Chief Judge Of Lagos State
The Chief Judge of Lagos State is the head of the Lagos State Judiciary, the judicial branch of the Lagos State Government and the chief judge of the High Court of Lagos State. From 1967 to 1973, the title was called Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The appointment is often made by the Governor. "Section 271(1) of the Constitution provides that ‘The appointment of a person to the office of the Chief Judge of a State shall be made by the Governor of the State on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, subject to the confirmation of the appointment by the House of Assembly of the State,’". Powers and duties The Chief Judge is the highest judicial officer in the state, and acts as a chief administrative officer as well as spokesperson for the judicial branch. Kazeem Alogba
Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba (born 23 April 1960) is a Nigerian jurist and the current Chief Judge of Lagos State, chief judge of Lagos State. He was appointed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in June 2019 as the 17th chief justice of the state. Early life Alogba was born at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Lagos on 23 April 1960 into the Alogba family of Ikorodu, Lagos State to Alhaji Chief Jimoh F. Alogba and Mrs. Risikat Alogba. John Taylor (Nigerian Judge)
John Idowu Conrad Taylor (24 August 1917 – 7 November 1973) was a Nigerian jurist, Judge of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (1964 to 1967), and the first Chief Justice of Lagos State (1967 to 1973). Education and early life John Taylor was born in Lagos and was the fourth child of Eusebius James Alexander Taylor (a prominent lawyer and nationalist) and Remilekun Alice Taylor (née Williams). He attended Olowogbowo Methodist School for his primary education and Methodist Boys High School for part of his secondary education. Roseline or Rosaline Ajoke Omotosho, née Sonola-Soyinka (died 1999) was a Nigerian judge. From 12 April 1995 to 27 February 1996 she was Chief Judge of Lagos State.
