Chicoutimi—Le Fjord
Chicoutimi—Le Fjord (formerly known as Chicoutimi) is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1925. The riding consists of the northern part of the Chicoutimi borough of Saguenay, as well as the La Baie borough and the municipalities of Ferland-et-Boilleau, L'Anse-Saint-Jean, Petit-Saguenay, Rivière-Éternité and Saint-Félix-d'Otis and the unorganized territory of Lalemant. It was created as "Chicoutimi" riding in 1924 from Chicoutimi—Saguenay. It was renamed "Chicoutimi—Le Fjord" in 2000. The neighbouring ridings are Manicouagan, Beauport—Côte-de-Beaupré—Île d'Orléans—Charlevoix, and Jonquière. Richard Martel won the 2018 by-election. Richard Martel
Richard Martel (born March 23, 1961) is a Canadian politician and former ice hockey coach. He last coached the Grenoble Brûleurs de Loups in the French Ligue Magnus. Martel was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a by-election on June 18, 2018. He represents the electoral district of Chicoutimi—Le Fjord as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Coaching career Martel was an assistant coach under Jos Canale from 1991 to 1993 in Chicoutimi. Between 1993 and 2011, Martel served as a head coach in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) where he twice won the Ron Lapointe Trophy as the QMJHL coach of the year. On February 28, 2010, Martel became the most successful coach in the history of the QMJHL when he coached the Chicoutimi Saguenéens to a 3–1 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to win his 570th QMJHL game, surpassing the record previously held by Guy Chouinard. Manicouagan is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. The riding was created in 1966 from parts of Charlevoix and Saguenay ridings. The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Saguenay River
__NOTOC__ The Saguenay River () is a major river of Quebec, Canada. It drains Lac Saint-Jean in the Laurentian Highlands, leaving at Alma and running east; the city of Saguenay is located on the river. It drains into the Saint Lawrence River. Tadoussac, founded as a French colonial trading post in 1600, is located on the northeast bank at this site. The river has a very high flow-rate and is bordered by steep cliffs associated with the Saguenay Graben. Tide waters flow in its fjord upriver as far as Chicoutimi (about 100 kilometres). Lapointe was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1949 to 1979. This riding was created in 1947 from parts of Chicoutimi riding. It consisted of the city of Arvida and the towns of Kénogami and Jonquière and the western part of the county of Chicoutimi. Chicoutimi County, Quebec
Chicoutimi () is the most populous borough (arrondissement) of the city of Saguenay in Quebec, Canada. It is situated at the confluence of the Saguenay and Chicoutimi rivers.
