Chicago Muscle
The Chicago Muscle was a professional, minor league basketball team in the Premier Basketball League. The Muscle was set to begin play for the 2012 season. Based in Chicago, Illinois, the Muscle's home venue was Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. The Muscle planned to be the second PBL team to play out of Chicago, following the Chicago Throwbacks which played from 2008 until folding in 2009. In the planning stages, a team called the Chicago Aztecas was set to join, but it folded before tipping off. The team folded on March 8, 2013, according to the Illinois Secretary of State's website. Premier Basketball League
The Premier Basketball League, often abbreviated to the PBL, is an American professional men's basketball minor league that began play in January 2008. The league folded after the 2017 season. It was announced that the league would be revived under new management for the 2020 season. The league announced due coronavirus outbreak the season would be put on hold. History 2008 season The PBL was formed after a number of disagreements between several former member teams of the modern American Basketball Association (ABA) and ABA CEO Joe Newman. Eight of the initial ten PBL teams either played in or were slated to play in the ABA. Palatine () is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is a northwestern residential suburb of Chicago. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 67,908. As of the 2010 Census, it was the seventh-largest community in Cook County and the 18th-largest in the state of Illinois. The Chicago Throwbacks were a team of the Premier Basketball League that begin play in fall 2007. Their home arena was Attack Athletics on Chicago's West Side. They were originally part of the American Basketball Association The American Basketball Association (ABA) was a major men's professional basketball league from 1967 to 1976. The ABA ceased to exist with the ABA–NBA merger, American Basketball Association–National Basketball Association merger in 1976, ... for the first part of the 2007–08 season, playing alongside their intra-city rivals the Cicero Cometas USA and the South Chi-Land Infernos.
