Chicago Hounds (rugby Union)
The Chicago Hounds are a professional rugby union team in Major League Rugby (MLR) based in Chicagoland. The team was founded in 2022 and is co-owned by a small group of investors including majority owner Peter Bernick and part-owners (and longtime Chicago rugby players) Matt Satchwell and Phil Groves. Their home stadium is SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. Games are broadcast on Marquee Sports Network. History On November 17, 2022, Major League Rugby announced the Chicago Hounds as the newest expansion franchise to begin play in 2023, following the discontinuation of the MLR franchises in Austin Gilgronis, Austin and LA Giltinis, Los Angeles. The Hounds compete in the Western Conference. Their first game was against Old Glory DC on February 18, 2023. Bridgeview, Illinois
Bridgeview is a village in Cook County, Illinois, Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located approximately southwest of the Chicago Loop. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the village population was 17,027. History The earliest settlement in Bridgeview occurred in the 1830s, when the area was still populated by Native American groups. By the 1870s German and Italian settlers began moving into the area for farming purposes. Dutch migrated to the area by the 1920s, at which time farming began to decline; real estate and industry began to develop the area considerably. Hugh Roach
Hugh Roach (born 11 September 1992) is an Australian rugby union professional player who plays hooker for the Chicago Hounds of Major League Rugby (MLR) in the United States. He also plays for the USA Perpignan of Top 14 (France). Family and early life Roach was born in Sydney. He played his junior rugby at Hunters Hill Rugby Club, and attended Newington College. His father, Graham Roach, was also a first grade rugby player who played at hooker for Western Suburbs in the Shute Shield competition. Roach was an Australia Schoolboys representative in 2009 and 2010, and is currently the equal most capped schools rugby player in Australia. Nick McCarthy (born 25 March 1995) is an Irish rugby union player, currently playing for Major League Rugby side Chicago Hounds and formerly for Leinster and Munster. He plays as a scrum-half. Early life Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the United States, McCarthy first began playing rugby aged 6 for Old Belvedere, and went on to attend St Michael's College, Dublin and represent the school in the Leinster Schools Senior Cup. Ben Landry (born March 26, 1991) is an American rugby union player who plays as a lock for the United States national rugby union team, and the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby (MLR). He previously played professionally with the Ealing Trailfinders of RFU Championship. Landry attended Pewaukee High School in Wisconsin where he played multiple sports — American football, basketball, and rugby.
