The 3rd Chicago Film Critics Association Awards were announced on March 7, 1991, during a ceremony at The Pump Room of the Omni Ambassador East Hotel. They honored the finest achievements in 1990 filmmaking. The nominees were announced on January 20, 1991. ''Goodfellas'' received the most nominations with seven, followed by ''Dances with Wolves'' with four. The former won the most awards with four, including Best Film. Actresses Kathy Bates and Joan Cusack earned two nominations each. The Pump Room
The Pump Room was a restaurant established on October 1, 1938 by Ernie Byfield. It closed in 2017, then reopened under different names. It is located in the Ambassador Chicago hotel, formerly known as the Ambassador East, on the northeast corner of State Parkway and Goethe Street in Chicago's Gold Coast area. History The restaurant originally opened on October 1, 1938. The interior was originally designed by Samuel Abraham Marx. The restaurant's heyday was in the 1950s and 1960s. The restaurant served a number of celebrities who were regular customers and has been written about in books and articles. Lucius Beebe, gourmand, author and journalist, included references to The Pump Room in some of his books and articles. ''White Hunter Black Heart'' is a 1990 American adventure drama film produced, directed by, and starring Clint Eastwood and based on the 1953 book of the same name by Peter Viertel. Viertel also co-wrote the script with James Bridges and Burt Kennedy. The film is a thinly disguised account of Viertel's experiences while working on the 1951 film '' The African Queen'', which was shot on location in Africa at a time when location shoots outside of the United States for American films were very rare.
