Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital ( th, โรงพยาบาลเชียงรายประชานุเคราะห์; ; ) is the main hospital of Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, and is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital. It has a CPIRD Medical Education Center which trains doctors of the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. History In 1932, a small hospital was opened and was called by the locals as 'Hong Ya Thai' (meaning Thai Hospital) as it was used to distinguish the hospital to another hospital officially named Overbrook Hospital, or 'Hong Ya Farang' (meaning Foreigner Hospital) run by the Church of Christ in Thailand. The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH; th, กระทรวงสาธารณสุข, ) is a Thai governmental body responsible for the oversight of public health in Thailand. It is commonly referred to in Thailand by its abbreviation ''so tho'' (). History In Thailand before 1888 there were no permanent, public hospitals to provide care to sick people. Temporary hospitals were set up to care for patients during epidemics, then disbanded when the epidemic subsided. The Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University () is the third oldest medical school in Thailand located in Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai and is the first medical school in Thailand to be set up in a regional location outside Bangkok. History The need for increased medical personnel in Thailand rose rapidly and the country only had two medical schools at the time which was the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Faculty of Medicine Chulalongkorn Hospital of the University of Medical Sciences (now Mahidol University). Therefore, the University and the Ministry of Public Health proposed the construction of the Faculty of Medicine Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital which was to be set up to spread medical education to more regional parts of Thailand. The Church of Christ in Thailand (C.C.T.) (Thai: สภาคริสตจักรในประเทศไทย) is a Protestant Christian association. It is the largest Protestant denomination in Thailand and is considered to be the largest by group of Protestant members in Thailand. Phraya Phahonphonphayuhasena, (29 March 1887 – 14 February 1947) (short form: Phraya Phahon), born as Phot Phahonyothin, was a Thai military leader and politician. He became the second prime minister of Siam in 1933 after ousting his predecessor in a coup d'état. He retired in 1938 after serving five years as prime minister. Early life Phot was born in Phra Nakhon Province (present-day Bangkok) to a Teochew Thai Chinese father, Colonel Kim Phahonyothin (), and a Thai Mon mother, Chap Phahonyothin (). After attending the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, in 1903 he was sent by royal scholarship to study at the Prussian Military Academy (''Preußische Hauptkadettenanstalt'') in the town of Lichterfelde, near Berlin, Germany, where he was apparently a classmate of Hermann Göring and became acquainted with Hideki Tojo through sword duels. Tham Luang Cave Rescue
In June and July 2018, a junior association football team and their assistant coach were rescued from the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai Province in northern Thailand. Twelve members of the team, aged 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old assistant coach entered the cave on 23 June after a football practice session. Shortly thereafter, heavy rainfall partially flooded the cave system, blocking their way out, and trapping them deep within. Efforts to locate the group were hampered by rising water levels and strong currents; and no contact was made for more than a week.
