Chi-Ali Griffith (born May 27, 1976), better known by his stage name Chi-Ali, is an American rapper from The Bronx, New York City, best known for his debut album, ''The Fabulous Chi-Ali'', released in 1992, and as a member of hip-hop collective Native Tongues. Music career Chi-Ali made his first appearance on Black Sheep's debut album, '' A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing'', on the posse cut "Pass the 40". Chi Ali at the time was a core member of Native Tongues, a New York City-based hip-hop collective, and also had connections with the Legion family, along with Showbiz and A.G. In 1992, Chi-Ali released his first solo single, "Age Ain't Nothing But a #", which was a moderate hit and reached #6 in the US Hot Rap Singles chart. ''The Fabulous Chi-Ali'' is the only studio album by American rapper and the Native Tongues member Chi-Ali. It was released on March 24, 1992, via Relativity Records. Recording sessions took place at Calliope Studios in New York City. Hip hop production, Production was handled by The Beatnuts, except for one song produced by Black Sheep (group), Black Sheep's Mista Lawnge. It features guest appearances from Trugoy the Dove of De La Soul, Dres (rapper), Dres of Black Sheep (group), Black Sheep, Al Tariq, Fashion of the Beatnuts and Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest. Native Tongues
The Native Tongues were a collective of late 1980s and early 1990s hip-hop artists known for their positive-minded, good-natured Afrocentric lyrics, and for pioneering the use of eclectic sampling and jazz-influenced beats. Its principal members were the Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest. The collective was also closely tied to the Universal Zulu Nation. The album peaked at number 30 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. By April 1992, it was certified gold in sales by the RIAA, after sales exceeding 500,000 copies in the United States. Andres "Dres" Vargas-Titus (born March 18, 1967) is an American hip hop artist. He is known for being the lead rapper of the alternative hip hop duo Black Sheep, before recording as a solo artist. Career Dres formed Black Sheep in 1989 with Mista Lawnge. Their first appearance together was on De La Soul's 1991 album ''De La Soul Is Dead''. Dres was featured on the track "Fanatic of the B Word". Sing Sing Correctional Facility
Sing Sing Correctional Facility, formerly Ossining Correctional Facility, is a maximum-security prison operated by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the village of Ossining, New York. It is about north of New York City on the east bank of the Hudson River. It holds about 1,700 inmates and housed the execution chamber for the State of New York until the abolition of capital punishment in New York in 2004. The name "Sing Sing" was derived from the Sintsink Native American tribe from whom the land was purchased in 1685, and was formerly the name of the village. In 1970, the prison's name was changed to the Ossining Correctional Facility, but it reverted to its original name in 1985. Relativity Records was an American record label founded by Barry Kobrin at the site of his company, Important Record Distributors (IRD) in metro New York. Relativity released music that covers a wide variety of musical genres. When it entered into a deal with Sony Music Entertainment, it became more known for its heavy metal and hip hop releases.
