Chester Schaeffer
Chester Schaeffer (September 9, 1902 – January 5, 1992) was an American Film editing#Film Editor, film and television editor with about thirty documentary and feature film credits, often for B movies. Schaeffer's first feature film editing credit was for ''The Canterville Ghost (1944 film), The Canterville Ghost'' (directed by Jules Dassin-1944). The film was produced by MGM, MGM Studios in Hollywood. In the era of the Studio system, Hollywood studio system, film editors typically served an apprenticeship at the studio of about ten years as assistant editors before promotion to editor, and Schaeffer had been an Ben Lewis' assistant editor on ''Dinner at Eight (1933 film), Dinner at Eight'' (directed by George Cukor-1933).Schaeffer was interviewed about his recollections of the 1930s in Hollywood for ''Irving Thalberg: Boy Wonder to Producer Prince''. William Castle
William Castle (born William Schloss Jr.; April 24, 1914 – May 31, 1977) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. Orphaned at 11, Castle dropped out of high school at 15 to work in the theater. He came to the attention of Columbia Pictures for his talent for promotion and was hired. He learned the trade of filmmaking and became a director, acquiring a reputation for the ability to churn out competent B-movies quickly and on budget. He eventually struck out on his own, producing and directing Thriller (genre), thrillers, which, despite their low budgets, he effectively promoted using film promotion, gimmicks, a trademark for which he is best known. ''The Tingler'' is a 1959 American horror film produced and directed by William Castle. It is the third of five collaborations between Castle and writer Robb White, and starring Vincent Price. The film tells the story of a scientist who discovers a parasite in human beings, called a "tingler", which feeds on fear. The creature earned its name by making the spine of its host "tingle" when the host is frightened. Russell Rouse (November 20, 1913 – October 2, 1987) was an American screenwriter, director, and producer who is noted for the "offbeat creativity and originality" of his screenplays and for film noir movies and television episodes produced in the 1950s. Life and career Rouse was the son of film pioneer Edwin Russell; his great uncle was the 1920s actor William Russell. He was educated at UCLA. His first employment in films was in the prop department at Paramount Studios, where he began writing screenplays. His play, ''Yokel Boy'', was filmed in 1942 and became his first film writing credit. Rouse has 18 credits as a screenwriter between 1942 and 1988. Starting with ''The Town Went Wild'' (1944), Rouse co-wrote many stories and scripts with Clarence Greene.
