Chesbro Reservoir
Chesbro Reservoir is an artificial lake located three miles (5 km) west of Morgan Hill, California, in the United States. A county park surrounds the reservoir and provides limited fishing ("catch-and-release"), picnicking, and hiking activities. Swimming and boating are not permitted in the reservoir. History The reservoir was created in 1955 by the construction of the Elmer J. Chesbro Dam across Llagas Creek in the valley west of El Toro peak. The reservoir and dam were named after Elmer J. Chesbro, a local doctor who was president of the Santa Clara Valley Water Conservation District (now the Santa Clara Valley Water District) at the time. Llagas Creek
Llagas Creek is a perennial stream in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The headwaters rise on the eastern side of Crystal Peak near Loma Prieta. From there, the creek flows northeast along Casa Loma Road, until it reaches Uvas Road, and then turns south. At Oak Glen Avenue, the creek turns southeast, passing through Chesbro Reservoir, and the cities of Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy. The creek continues its southward flow, eventually joining with the Pajaro River at the San Benito County line. The lower Llagas Creek, south of Gilroy, passes through a system of percolation ponds ( Lower Miller Slough) which are used to treat wastewater in the area. Santa Clara Valley Water District
The Santa Clara Valley Water District (also known as Valley Water) provides stream stewardship, wholesale water supply and flood protection for Santa Clara County, California, in the southern San Francisco Bay Area. The district encompasses all of the county's and serves the area's 15 cities, 2 million residents and more than 200,000 commuters. In terms of acres, the district includes 138,000 acres, and 120,700 of those acres are lands that people have built cities, roads or cultivate farms on. Almost 2,000 pumping wells supply the districts fields, houses and businesses with a clean reliable source of water. El Toro (Santa Clara County, California)
El Toro is a prominent hill located along the eastern foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in southwest Santa Clara County, California. The iconic landmark is partially owned by the city of Morgan Hill, and its silhouette is incorporated in the city logo. History In Spanish, "El Toro" means "The Bull".
