Telethon '79
A telethon (a portmanteau of "television" and " marathon") is a televised fundraising event that lasts many hours or even days, the purpose of which is to raise money for a charitable, political or other purportedly worthy cause. Most telethons feature heavy solicitations for pledges (promises to donate funds at a later time) by masters of ceremonies or hosts, who are often local celebrities or media personalities combined with variety show style entertainment such as singers, bands and instrumentalists. In some cases, telethons feature content related to the cause being supported, such as interviews with charitable beneficiaries, tours of charity-supported projects, or pre-taped sequences. The equivalent term for a radio broadcast is a radiothon; most radiothons do not include live entertainment. In the United States, the first telethon used for political outreach occurred in 1960. History United States In 1949, Milton Berle hosted the first-ever telethon, raising $1,100,00 ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Glamour Models
Glamour photography is a genre of photography in which the subjects are portrayed in erotic poses ranging from fully clothed to nude. The term may be a euphemism for erotic photography. For glamour models, body shape and size are directly related to success. This type of photography is known as "cheesecake" or "pin-up" for women and "beefcake" for men. Since glamour photography can include nudity, the distiction between this and softcore pornography is largely a matter of taste, although depictions of sexual contact are not considered within this genre and an important differentiator between it and pornography. Glamour photography is generally a composed image of a subject in a still position. The subjects of glamour photography for professional use are often professional models, and the photographs are normally intended for commercial use, including mass-produced calendars, pinups and men's magazines such as ''Maxim''; but amateur subjects are also sometimes used, and so ... See Weimann (1978, 2); see also Csapo and Slater, who offer translations of classical source material using the term ''hypocrisis'' ( acting) (1994, 257, 265–267). The actor's interpretation of a rolethe art of actingpertains to the role played, whether based on a real person or fictional character. List Of Penthouse Pets Of The Year
This is a list of the models who have appeared in the American edition of ''Penthouse'' magazine and were either named Pet of the Month or Pet of the Year from September 1969 to the present. Pet of the Year names are in bold type and are typically featured in the January issue of the year for which they are selected. Unlike ''Playboy'', it may be several years before a model becomes "Pet of the Year" after their initial centerfold. No model was selected in 1985. Contrary to what has been written over the years by various media, the first Pet of the Year was not Evelyn Treacher. (Treacher was on the cover of the first US edition, September 1969 and was named the first Pet of the Month.) The selection for the American edition of the magazine was not announced until the May 1971 issue. A few months later in the September 1971 issue, the first US Pet of the Year was selected and pictured on the cover, the winner being Stephanie McLean. Pets of the Month Sources: 1969–1979 1980 ...
