Cherry Creek is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Chautauqua County, New York, United States. The population was 461 at the 2010 census, when it was an incorporated village. The hamlet is within the town of Cherry Creek near the east border of the county. It is located on New York State Route 83 and a stream called Cherry Creek. History The hamlet is the site of the earliest settlement of the town, in 1815. The settlement got its name from a cherry tree planted by Holland Land Company surveyor Joshua Bentley to mark the center of the new town. It was formally incorporated as a village in 1893. On February 2, 2017, residents of the village voted 70 to 32 in favor of dissolving into the surrounding town of Cherry Creek. The village was dissolved on December 31, 2017. Cherry Creek State Park is a state park in Arapahoe County, Colorado, United States. The park consists of a natural prairie and wetland environment with an reservoir at its center which is shared by powerboats, sailboats, and paddle craft. The Marina at Pelican Bay offers mooring and The Lake House offers event space rental for events on the north-western shore. A large imported-sand swim beach is situated on the north-eastern side along with ample parking. The park has of paved roads and of multi-use trails open to runners, cyclists, and horseback riders. The Cherry Creek School District 5, also known as Cherry Creek Public Schools, is a school district based in western Arapahoe County, Colorado. The current superintendent is Christopher Smith. The Cherry Creek Rockshelter is an archaeological site in central Colorado, located within modern-day Castlewood Canyon State Park near Franktown, Colorado. Current research indicates that it was used by Native American inhabitants beginning in the Archaic period. The site is situated on the Palmer Divide, which allowed for a unique prehistoric environment that contributed to an abundance of food and water sources, as well as lithic materials for tool-making. These factors, combined with the structure and situation of the shelter itself, made the site a particularly attractive environment for prehistoric peoples to settle in. The Cherry Creek Range is a line of mountains, Basin and Range faulted, in northern White Pine and southern Elko Counties, in northeastern Nevada in the western United States. The range runs generally north–south for approximately 50 miles (80 km). The highest point in the range is an unnamed peak, (10,458 feet, 3187 m) located just south of the border between the counties. To the west are Butte Valley and the Butte Mountains, while to the east are Steptoe Valley, the Schell Creek Range, U.S. Route 93, and the historic mining community of Cherry Creek.
