Chenango Ice Rink
The Ice House Sports Complex is a 1,200-seat ice rink located in Chenango, New York. The Ice House is home to the Binghamton University Bearcats club ice hockey team competing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association as members of the Northeast Collegiate Hockey League, and was the 2010-11 home of the Broome County Barons playing in Federal Hockey League (FHL), a minor professional ice hockey league. In 2023, the Ice House serves as home to local high school hockey, local figure skating, youth and adult recreational hockey leagues, as well as public skating. The Ice House also has a sports bar located on the second floor of the facility, known as the Fire & Ice Sports Bar and Grill. Chenango, New York
Chenango is a town in Broome County, New York, United States. The population was 10,983 at the 2020 census. The town is in the eastern part of the county, northeast of Binghamton. History The area was first settled ''circa'' 1787, and the Town of Chenango was established in 1791 before the formation of Broome County. It is one of the original towns of the county, from which other towns were later formed. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and , or 1.27%, is water. The Chenango River defines the eastern town line. American Collegiate Hockey Association
The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) is a college ice hockey association. The ACHA's purpose is to be an organization of collegiate affiliated non-varsity programs, which provides structure, regulates operations, and promotes quality in collegiate ice hockey. The ACHA currently has three men's and two women's divisions and includes approximately 450 teams from across the United States. Teams offer few athletic scholarships and typically receive far less university funding. The New York Bluefins were a professional hockey team in the Federal Hockey League (FHL) based in New York. The Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) is a professional ice hockey independent minor league with teams in the Midwestern, Southern, and Northeastern United States. The FPHL began operations in November 2010 as the Federal Hockey League. Don Kirnan is the league's commissioner. Northeast Collegiate Hockey League
The Northeast Collegiate Hockey League is an ACHA Division I Hockey League consisting of seven teams in the Northeastern United States. A majority of members are located in New York with additional teams coming from New Jersey. History The league was announced on July 19, 2007 with plans to begin its first season later that year. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are a junior ice hockey organization from Pittston, Pennsylvania. In 2015, the Knights' junior hockey organization purchased the dormant Dawson Creek Rage franchise in the Tier II North American Hockey League (NAHL) and placed their Tier III franchise in the Eastern Hockey League into dormancy. The organization has reactivated and deactivated their Tier III level teams at various times, but plans to launch teams in the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier and Elite Divisions, non-USA Hockey sanctioned leagues that operate similar to the Tier III level. Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country.
