Cheeranchira
Cheeranchira is a suburb of Changanasserry town, Kerala State in India. It is around 4 km from the town and is one of the first settlements in Changanasserry Taluk. Situated at present within the Vazhappally Grampanchayat, it shares its borders with Vakathanam panchayat as well. The village is the tenth ward in Vazhappally Gramapanchayat and is represented at present by Sashin Thalakulam (Indian National Congress). Origin of the name The name Cheeranchira is believed to have its roots in perhaps the land's original ownership by an individual named Cheeran. From Cheeran's chira (small parcel of land mostly surrounded by water) the land got its name Cheeran is an archaic Malayali name. Another speculation is that the locality was infested by thorny amaranths (Amaranthus spinosus) plants (മുള്ളഞ്ചീര) giving it the name Cheera-chira, which later became Cheeranchira. Anju Bobby George
Anju Bobby George (born 19 April 1977) is a retired Indian athlete. Anju Bobby George made history when she won the bronze medal in long jump at the 2003 World Championships in Athletics in Paris. With this achievement, she became the first Indian athlete ever to win a medal in a World Championships in Athletics jumping . She went on to win the gold medal at the IAAF World Athletics Final (a competition between best eight athletes in the world based on the world ranking) in 2005, a performance she considers her best. Anju was upgraded to the gold status from silver in the 2005 World Athletics Final in Monte Carlo following the disqualification of Tatyana Kotova of Russia by the International Association of Athletics Federations, following the recent re-testing of the latter's sample collected at the 2005 World Championship in Helsinki. Malankara Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church
The Jacobite Syrian Christian Church (JSCC), or the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in India also known as Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, the Jacobite Syrian Church, and the Syriac Orthodox Church in India, is a catholicate based in Kerala, India, of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch and part of the Oriental Orthodox Church. Baselios Marthoma Mathews I (27 March 1907 – 8 November 1996) was the primate of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, also known as Indian Orthodox Church. He was the 5th catholicos of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and 18th Malankara Metropolitan. Early life He was the youngest son of Rev. Vattakunnel Kurien Kathanar and Pulickaparampil Mariamma in Kottayam. His father was Vicar of St. Mary's Orthodox Church at Manarcad. In his early days, the catholicos was called V.K. Baselios Augen I was the 17th Malankara Metropolitan and fourth Catholicos of the East in Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Early days and education He was born on 26 June 1884 at Puthencruz, Ernakulam district of the Indian state of Kerala to Chettakulathinkara Abraham Malpan and Annamma of Cheruvillil Valiyal in a Malankara Syrian Orthodox family. Moran Mor Baselios Geevarghese II of the Malankara Church (16 June 1874 – 3 January 1964). Third Catholicos of the East in Malankara and 16th Malankara Metropolitan, was born to Ulahannan and Naithi of the Kallaserri family in Kurichi, Kottayam India on 16 June 1874. On 24 April 1892, Kadavil Paulose Mar Athanasios ordained him as deacon and on 24 November and 27 November 1898 he was ordained as priest and Ramban respectively by Parumala Mar Gregorios. Catholicos Of India
The Catholicos of India, earlier known as the Catholicos of the East and Metropolitan of Malankara, is an ecclesiastical office in the Syriac Orthodox Church. He is the Catholicos (Maphrian) and spiritual leader and regional head of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, the Indian body of the Syriac Orthodox Church, and functions at an ecclesiastical rank second only to the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch, and his name is commemorated in liturgy throughout the Syriac Orthodox Archdioceses in India. Geevarghese Mar Dionysius of Vattasseril popularly known as Vattasseril Thirumeni (31 October 1858 – 23 February 1934) was a bishop of the Malankara Church, 15th Malankara Metropolitan, and a founder of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. In 2003, the Church declared Mar Dionysius as a saint. A catholicosate or catholicate is a particular ecclesiastical primacy, headed by a primate titled as a catholicos. Such regional primacies exist within various branches of Eastern Christianity, especially those of Oriental Orthodox tradition.
