Che Cockatoo-Collins
Che Cockatoo-Collins (born 5 March 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). Cockatoo-Collins was born in Brisbane, Queensland, before moving to Cairns, Queensland, where he began playing junior football with the Cairns City Cobras Australian Football Club. Cockatoo-Collins moved to Adelaide with his family whilst still at school and signed up with the Port Adelaide Magpies in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) where he became noticed for his skills and pace. Cockatoo-Collins played 25 SANFL games before being drafted by Essendon. Essendon career Debuting with AFL club Essendon in 1994 as a 19-year-old, Cockatoo-Collins slowly started to improve his game. He played 16 games in 1994, averaging 16 disposals per game and kicking 24 goals. He did well in the next season, but the 1996 season was to be his break-through year. The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. Nakia Cockatoo ( ; born 23 October 1996) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions and Geelong in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Cockatoo was born in the Northern Territory into a family of Indigenous Australian descent ( Jupangati and Marrithiyal) and was raised the small town of Humpty Doo. He began playing football at Auskick level with the Humpty Doo Bombers. He played his junior football with Southern Districts in the NTFL and the Northern Territory Thunder in the NEAFL.
