Chatterbox Records
Chatterbox Records was an independent record label based in Sydney, Australia, founded in 1997 by musician Nik Tropiano and Sebastian Chase of Phantom Records. The label boasts an eclectic mixture of various genres. Its first release was a vinyl EP from Sydney electro-goth band Cult 45. Just two years later, the label came close to mainstream success when Canberra nu metal band Henry's Anger was nominated for an ARIA Award in the 'Best Rock Album' category for the album ''Personality Test''. In 2000 Chatterbox came close again when the Sydney all-girl rock act Skulker was nominated in the 'Best Independent Release' category for its album ''Too Fat for Tahiti''. By now, the label had built a considerable roster of local acts that also included punk legends The Hard Ons and the progressive metal band Alchemist. Progressive Metal
Progressive metal (sometimes shortened to prog metal) is a broad :Fusion music genres, fusion music genre melding heavy metal music, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified electric guitar, guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Superheist
Superheist is an Australian metal band, which formed in 1993. They have released two EPs, thirteen singles, one compilation/live album and four studio albums, two of which, 2001's ''The Prize Recruit'' and 2002's ''Identical Remote Controlled Reactions'', reached the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart. After a twelve-year hiatus, their 2016 comeback album "Ghosts of the Social Dead" reached No. 3 on the AIR Charts and remained in the Top 10 for four weeks. Four of the group's singles, "Crank the System" (November 2000), "Bullet" (March 2001), " 7 Years" (May 2002) and "A Dignified Rage" (September 2002), each peaked in the Top 50 on the related ARIA Singles Chart. Regular John
Regular John are an Australian Psychedelic Rock band based in Sydney, NSW. The group consists of Ryan A (guitar, vocals, synths), Caleb Goman (bass, vocals), Ryan McDonald (drums) and Miles Devine (guitar). Their first EP Marrickville 2204 was released in 2007 and followed by the single Devils Melody. Both were released on Sydney based independent label Chatterbox Records. The Marrickville EP was named after the Sydney suburb where the group lived and rehearsed for a time. A bootleg of home recordings entitled The Ivanhoe Demos also exists and contains early versions of some tracks from The Peaceful Atom is a Bomb. In May, 2009, they released their debut album The Peaceful Atom is a Bomb on Difrnt Music. The album was produced by Tim Powles of The Church and recorded at his Spacejunk Studios. Daysend
Daysend (pronounced ''days-end'') were an Australia melodic death metal band formed in 2002 by mainstays Aaron Bilbija on guitars and Meredith Webster on bass guitar. They were joined later that year by Wayne Morris on drums. From 2003 to 2006 their lead vocalist was Simon Calabrese, who was replaced by Mark McKernan. The group released three albums, ''Severance'' (November 2003), ''The Warning'' (May 2007) and '' Within the Eye of Chaos'' (February 2010), before disbanding in May 2011. History Daysend were formed in mid-2002 by Aaron Bilbija on guitars, Matt Lamb on drums and Meredith Webster on bass guitar. Peabody (band)
Peabody are an Australian four-piece rock band, formed in 1994. Career Peabody formed as a three-piece group after leaving school in Sydney in 1994. They entered the Sydney live circuit, playing at venues like The Lansdowne Hotel and The Iron Duke, then subsequently larger venues such as The Annandale Hotel, The Hopetoun Hotel and The Sandringham Hotel. The band recorded and self-released two early EPs, before beginning an association with Sydney-based independent record label Nonzero Records, founded in 2001. Through Nonzero Records, the band met producer Jamie Hutchings, leader of label-mates Bluebottle Kiss, who produced their first album, 2003's ''Professional Againster'' (named after a song by New Bomb Turks), and their second LP, ''The New Violence'', released in 2005. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is an American musical project and band led and started by Anton Newcombe. It was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The group was the subject of the 2004 documentary film called '' Dig!'', and have gained media notoriety for their tumultuous working relationships as well as the erratic behavior of Newcombe. The collective has released 18 albums, five compilation albums, five live albums, 13 EPs, 18 singles as well as two various-artist compilation albums to date. Nashville Pussy is an American rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Initially called Hell's Half-Acre, the band's name comes from Ted Nugent's introduction to "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" on the ''Double Live Gonzo'' album. Following the initial 1997 breakup of Kentucky cowpunk band Nine Pound Hammer, guitarist Blaine Cartwright formed Nashville Pussy where he would take up vocal duties in addition to guitar. The core lineup of Nashville Pussy consists of husband-and-wife duo Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys (pronounced "Rider Sighs"), and drummer Jeremy Thompson, formerly of Texas band Phantom Creeps. Toilet Böys are an American rock and roll band from New York City, United States. The band's original line-up is made up of Miss Guy, Sean Pierce, Electric Eddie, Rocket, and Adam Vomit. Toilet Böys have toured world-wide supporting musical acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nashville Pussy, Orgy, The Damned, Dee Dee Ramone and Debbie Harry. They were known for a highly energetic stage show that included spark-showers, smoke, lasers, strobes, synchronized flame-columns, cheerleaders, confetti cannons, burning guitars and fire breathing performed by lead guitarist Sean during the finale.
