Chase Side
Chase Side is a road between Cockfosters and Southgate in the London Borough of Enfield. It runs from the junction of Cat Hill, Cockfosters Road and Bramley Road in the north to Southgate Circus in the south and forms part of the boundary with the London Borough of Barnet. Cockfosters
Cockfosters is a suburb of north London to the east of Chipping Barnet, lying partly in the London Borough of Enfield and partly in the London Borough of Barnet. Before 1965, it was in the counties of Middlesex and Hertfordshire. Origins and popular attractions The name was recorded as far back as 1524 and is thought to be either the name of a family or that of a house which stood on Enfield Chase. One suggestion is that it was "the residence of the cock forester (or chief forester)". Of note in Cockfosters is Trent Park, now a country park. Southgate is a suburban area of North London, England in the London Borough of Enfield. It is located around north of Charing Cross. The name is derived from being the south gate to Enfield Chase. History Southgate was originally the ''South Gate'' of Enfield Chase, the King's hunting grounds. This is reflected in the street names Chase Road (which leads due north from the station to Oakwood, and was formerly the avenue into the Chase) and Chase Side. There is a blue plaque on a building on the site of the south gate. A little further to the south was another small medieval settlement called South Street which had grown up around a village green; by 1829 the two settlements had merged and the village green became today's Southgate Green. Enfield Chase is an area of Enfield that is named for a former royal hunting ground. Chicken Shed Theatre
Chickenshed (also known as Chicken Shed or the Chicken Shed Theatre Company) is a British theatre company based in Southgate, London. Chickenshed's membership programme comprises four Children's theatre groups and two Youth theatre groups for young people aged 5–21 years. They run Saturday and holiday workshops for ages 5–12 years and performance and singing workshops for adults. They also operate education courses in inclusive performing arts at BTEC, Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) Levels. St Andrew's Southgate
St Andrew's Southgate is an Edwardian Church of England church in Chase Side, Southgate, London. It was built in 1903 and consecrated in 1913. It replaced a chapel-of-ease (to the then parish church Christ Church, Southgate) sited in nearby Farm Road since the 1870s, which became known as St Andrew's in the 1890s. Southgate Tube Station
Southgate is a London Underground Piccadilly line station in Southgate. It is located between Arnos Grove and Oakwood stations and is in Travelcard Zone 4. History Southgate station opened on 13 March 1933 with Oakwood on the second phase of the northern extension of the Piccadilly line from Finsbury Park to Cockfosters.
