Rick Charls
Rick Charls is a former American high diver who held the world record for the highest dive of 172 feet (52.4256 meters). Background Charls, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, was a high school and collegiate All-American and a two-time Mid-American Conference diving champion at Ohio University. Career Charls made his record-breaking dive at SeaWorld San Diego, which was viewed by millions of people on ABC’s ''Wide World of Sports''. The dive was performed in conjunction with the Guinness World Records and the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Since 1983, many divers have tried to break this record, but sustained injuries upon impact with the water and had to be rescued. Charls, Rick Winters, Bruce Boccia, Mike Foley and Dana Kunze were the only divers to receive credit for the dive. Charls Walker
Charls Edward Walker (December 24, 1923 – June 2, 2015) was Under Secretary of the United States Department of the Treasury from 1969 to 1972, and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury in 1973 under John Connally. Personal life, education, and early career Walker was born in Graham, Texas. Walker married Harmolyn Hart in 1949. He received his bachelors and MBA degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1955. He then was a professor for a time at the University of Texas at Austin. He then worked as an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and as an executive with Republic National Bank of Dallas. In 1961 he became Executive Vice President of the American Bankers Association, a position he retained until 1969.
