Charlie Van Der Bist
Charlie Van Der Bist (15 June 1915 – 6 May 1970) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally from Rochester, he played with Mordialloc in 1938, winning the Frankston (Federal) Football League best and fairest award, before playing with Hawthorn in 1939 and 1940. In 1939, Van Der Bist was hit by Ron Barassi Senior in a match against Melbourne. Barassi later received a four-week suspension. Rochester Football Club
The Rochester Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Tigers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club, formed at a meeting held on 8 June 1874 at Tidy's Restdown Hotel. The club was formed with the purpose of soon "playing and beating Echuca". An intense rivalry that has endured ever since regardless of which competition each was playing in. Mordialloc Football Netball Club, nicknamed The Bloodhounds, is an Australian rules football and netball club that currently participates in the Southern Football Netball League. Mordialloc also played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1958 until 1988. History The club is based in the Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc and started out in the Federal Football Association. They played in the FFA from 1909 to 1957 and were premiers on seven occasions - 1923, 1924, 1929, 1939, 1950, 1951 & 1952. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Federal Football League was an Australian rules football competition in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, that was in existence from 1909 to 1981. It was regarded as one of the strongest metropolitan leagues in Melbourne and in the 1960s and it is said that Channel Seven were seeking to telecast league games on a Sunday.
