Charlie Nicholls (cricketer)
This is a list in alphabetical order of cricketers who have played first-class cricket for the Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence (UCCE) and Durham MCC University (MCCU). The Durham UCCE side first played cricket in 2000 and played its first first-class matches in 2001. It developed out of Durham University Cricket Club and was established under head coach Graeme Fowler, a former England Test cricketer. The UCCE side continued until the 2009 season, when the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) took over funding from the England and Wales Cricket Board, at which point it was renamed Durham MCCU. MCC funding came to an end in July 2020, although no matches were played in the 2020 season due to the restrictions put in place during the Coronavirus outbreak. In December 2019 the ECB announced that matches with MCCU sides would lose their first-class status as of the 2021 season. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. A significant omission of the ICC ruling was any attempt to define first-class cricket retrospectively. Chaitanya Bishnoi
Chaitanya Bishnoi (born 25 August 1994) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Haryana. He made his Twenty20 debut on 6 January 2016 in the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In January 2018, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 IPL auction. He was released by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. Adam Peter Augustus Clarke (born 13 September 1984) is an English cricketer. Clarke is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Greenwich, London. While studying for his degree at Durham University, Clarke made his only first-class appearance for Durham UCCE against Northamptonshire in 2004. Jack Clark (born 26 September 1994) is an English former first-class cricketer. Clark was born at Ashington and educated at The King Edward VI School, Morpeth. From there he attended the Durham University School of Engineering and Computing Sciences. Clark debuted in minor counties cricket for Northumberland in the 2013 MCCA Knockout Trophy. James Bruce (English Cricketer)
James Thomas Anthony Bruce (born Hammersmith, 17 December 1979) is an English cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who is left-eye dominant, and a right-handed batsman. James bowled a five-wicket maiden as a school boy at Farleigh School and was in the 1st XI at Eton for several years before representing Durham UCCE and playing minor county cricket for Cumberland. His exceptional control and cricket brain attracted Hampshire to sign him in 2002. Michael Brown (cricketer)
Michael James Brown (born 9 February 1980) is an English first-class cricketer. Early life Brown was born in Burnley, Lancashire, attending Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in neighbouring Blackburn. Like many of his family, he began playing cricket for Burnley Cricket Club, making his debut for the adult side at age 14. His younger brother David is also a Cricketer.
