Charlie Gaddy
Charlie Gaddy (born September 17, 1931), is a former American television anchorman for WRAL-TV from Raleigh, North Carolina. He anchored the evening news for over 20 years. He retired in 1994. Biography Gaddy was born in Roxboro, North Carolina in 1931, and later grew up in Biscoe, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Guilford College. His first appearance on television was as staff announcer with NBC in 1960. He subsequently worked for radio station WPTF for ten years. In his 30s, he moved to Raleigh when he joined WRAL-TV in 1970 to host ''Good Morning Charlie'' Four years later, he joined the Action News 5 team with Bobbie Battista, Bob DeBardelaben and Rich Brenner. In 1981 Battista accepted an offer with CNN, Atlanta, and Gaddy became the solo anchor until Adele Arakawa joined in 1983 and Tom Suiter became the new sports anchor in 1982. Roxboro, North Carolina
Roxboro is a city and the county seat of Person County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 8,362 at the 2010 census. Bobbie Battista
Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Battista (July 23, 1952 – March 3, 2020) was an American journalist and a prominent newscaster on CNN. During her 20-year career with the cable news company, Battista anchored numerous programs on CNN, CNN Headline News, and CNN International. Education Battista earned a bachelor's degree in radio, television, and film production at Northwestern University. Career After beginning her career at a radio station in Raleigh, North Carolina, she moved on to be an anchor, reporter and producer with WRAL-TV; she was the writer and assistant producer for the 1981 documentary ''Fed up with Fear'', which won a Peabody Award. Adele Arakawa
Adele Arakawa (born August 31, 1957) is a retired American evening news anchor for NBC affiliate station KUSA-TV of Denver, Colorado. As of June 2007, she provides the female voice of the airport train system at Denver International Airport. She retired on June 30, 2017. She is also the voice of Denver’s RTD Light Rail trains, announcing stations, stops and destinations. Rich Brenner (November 24, 1946 – February 27, 2012) was an American television sportscaster. Life and career Brenner was a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He was student senate president, sports editor of the college newspaper, Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from BW in 1968. Biscoe, North Carolina
Biscoe is a town in Montgomery County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,700 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Henry Biscoe, an important customer of the local lumber business. History The area was formerly called "Filo." The current name was adopted in 1895.
