Charlie Deutsch
Charlie Deutsch is a British National Hunt jockey. Racing career Deutsch began his racing career with Charlie Longsdon in 2013 before moving across to Venetia Williams in Herefordshire. He fell in his first ride for Williams. Deutsch won the Grade 3 Betfair Handicap Chase at Cheltenham with Aachen in 2015. He would win the race again in 2021 with Commodore making him joint leading jockey in the race. In 2016, Deutsch won the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton Park with Yala Enki. The jockey stated it as his biggest win at the time. Deutsch was arrested in 2018 for drink driving. At this point of his career, he had won 88 races. His first ride after release from prison was Rogue Dancer at Huntingdon Racecourse on 16 October 2018. He finished 2nd. At the 2019 Cheltenham Festival, Deutsch nearly won his first Festival race in the Ryanair Chase with Aso, finishing second to Frodon. Jockey
A jockey is someone who rides horses in horse racing or steeplechase racing, primarily as a profession. The word also applies to camel riders in camel racing. The word "jockey" originated from England and was used to describe the individual who rode horses in racing. They must be light, typically around a weight of 100-120 lb., and physically fit. They are typically self-employed and are paid a small fee from the horse trainer and a percentage of the horse's winnings. Jockeys are mainly male, though there are some well-known female jockeys too. The job has a very high risk of debilitating or life-threatening injuries. Etymology The word is by origin a diminutive of ''jock'', the Northern English or Scots colloquial equivalent of the first name ''John'', which is also used generically for "boy" or "fellow" (compare ''Jack'', ''Dick''), at least since 1529. Ryanair Chase
The Ryanair Chase is a Grade 1 National Hunt steeplechase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged five years or older. It is run on the New Course at Cheltenham over a distance of about 2 miles and 4½ furlongs (2 miles 4 furlongs and 127 yards, or 4,139 metres), and during its running there are seventeen fences to be jumped. The race is scheduled to take place each year during the Cheltenham Festival in March. It was one of several new races introduced at the Festival when a fourth day was added to the meeting in 2005. Prior to this there had been a similar event at the Festival called the Cathcart Challenge Cup, but this was restricted to first and second-season chasers only. The registered (non-sponsored) title of the race is the Festival Trophy, and it was initially classed at Grade 2 level. HM Prison Bristol
HMP Bristol (previously known as Horfield Prison) is a Category B men's prison, located in the Horfield area of Bristol. The prison is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. History The prison was built in 1883. The B and C wings were added to the prison in the 1960s. Bristol's history includes fourteen executions, of which the last took place on 17 December 1963 when Russell Pascoe was hanged for the murder of William Rowe during a robbery. His accomplice Dennis Whitty met the same fate at HMP Winchester on the same morning. There have been riots at HMP Bristol in 1986 and 1991. Major internal damage was caused to prison wings on both occasions. A spike strip (spike belt, traffic spikes, tire shredders, stingers, stop sticks, Stinger or formally known as a tire deflation device) is a device or incident weapon used to impede or stop the movement of wheeled vehicles by puncturing their tires. Pony Club
Pony Club is an international youth organization devoted to educating youth about horses and riding. Pony Club organizations exist in over thirty countries worldwide. Origins Pony Club began in Great Britain in 1929 when the Institute of the Horse formed a youth branch of their organisation called "The Pony Club." It was formed to encourage children to start riding, while providing them with opportunities in the field that they would not be able to reach on their own. Tewkesbury ( ) is a medieval market town and civil parish in the north of Gloucestershire, England.
