Charles Wathen
Sir Charles Wathen (19 March 1833 - 14 February 1893) was a prominent Victorian wool merchant who from 1865 to 1887 ran the well-known British clothing firm of Wathen Gardiner & Co, and served six times as Mayor of Bristol. He was knighted for his accomplishments on 1 January 1889 during his fourth term as mayor by Queen Victoria Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until Death and state funeral of Queen Victoria, her death in 1901. Bristol Uniforms is a British clothing company that specializes in the manufacture of modern-day safety and fire protective clothing. History Wathen Gardiner & Co Wathen Gardiner & Co, the parent company of Bristol Uniforms, was founded as ''Gardiner & Sons'' in the city of Bristol, England in 1801 by John Gardiner, who served in 1819 and 1824 as High Sheriff of Bristol. The firm operated initially as a wholesale clothing company that exported women’s clothing to the West Indies. When Bristol in the 19th century was considered a major player in the clothing industry, Wathen Gardiner & Co was reputed to be one of the oldest operating companies in the city. Arnos Vale Cemetery
Arnos Vale Cemetery () (also written Arno's Vale Cemetery), in Arnos Vale, Bristol, England, was established in 1837. Its first burial was in 1839. The cemetery followed a joint-stock model, funded by shareholders. It was laid out as an Arcadian landscape with buildings by Charles Underwood. Most of its area is listed, Grade II*, on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. Arnos Vale cemetery is on the A4 road from Bristol to Bath, southeast of the city centre towards Brislington, about from Temple Meads railway station and about from Bristol bus station.
