Charles Montague Sawyer (20 March 1856 – 30 March 1921) was an English cricketer, and rugby union footballer who played in the 1880s and early 1890s. He played representative level cricket for Lancashire, Gentlemen of Lancashire, and at club level for Broughton Cricket Clu and representative level rugby union (RU) for England national rugby union team, England, and at club level for Broughton RUFC and Southport RFC, as a Three-quarters, e.g. Wing, or Centre. Rusholme () is an area of Manchester, England, two miles south of the city centre. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 13,643. Altrincham
Altrincham ( , locally ) is a market town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, south of the River Mersey. It is southwest of Manchester city centre, southwest of Sale and east of Warrington. At the 2011 Census, it had a population of 52,419. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, Altrincham was established as a market town in 1290, a time when the economy of most communities was based on agriculture rather than trade, and there is still a market in the town. The 1880–81 Home Nations rugby union matches were a series of international rugby union friendlies held between the England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales national rugby union teams. This season is most notable for the introduction of Wales as an international rugby union nation, playing their first ever match in a game against England. Although Wales were humiliated by a crushing defeat it did not stop rugby union being adopted by Wales as the country's national sport.
