Charles Rendell Mabey
Charles Rendell Mabey (October 4, 1877 – April 26, 1959) was an American politician who served as the fifth Governor of Utah from 1921 to 1925. He is the last Utah governor to serve one term. He was a member of the Republican Party. Life and career Mabey was born in Bountiful in the Utah Territory. He served in the United States Army during the Spanish–American War. From 1900–1903, Mabey served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Germany. Mabey was a banker by trade. He was a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 1913 to 1917 and served again on active duty in the Utah Field Artillery during World War I. He also served for a time as mayor of Bountiful, Utah. Simon Bamberger
Simon Bamberger (February 27, 1845October 6, 1926) was the fourth Governor of Utah (1917–1921) after it achieved statehood from territorial status in 1896. Bamberger retains the distinction of being the first non-Mormon, the first Democrat, as well as the first, and to date only, Jewish Governor of Utah. He was also the third Jew ever elected governor of any state, after Washington Bartlett of California and Moses Alexander of Idaho. Early years Born on February 27, 1845 in Darmstadt-Eberstadt, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, Bamberger was the son of Emanuel Bamberger and the former Helen Fleisch. William Henry Wattis
William Henry Wattis, also known as W. H. Wattis (August 15, 1859 – September 13, 1931), was one of the three Wattis Brothers who founded Utah Construction Company in 1900. Early life William Henry Wattis was born on August 15, 1859, in Uinta, Utah Territory, the fourth of seven children born to Edmund Orson Wattis and Mary Jane Corey. With his brother Edmund Orson Wattis, he formed a firm to lay track for the expanding railroads. The fledgling Wattis Brothers firm was wiped out in the panic of 1893. While William continued to try to find construction projects, Edmund focused his energies on running a sheep ranch the brothers had established in the Weber Valley. This ranch and others would later provide the financial strength for the large construction projects to come. Wattis married his sweetheart, Anna Maria Dorothea Sophie "Marie" Stander, on January 9, 1889. They had three daughters and one son.
