Charles James McDonald
Charles James McDonald (July 9, 1793December 16, 1860) was an American attorney, jurist and politician. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina and moved with his family to Hancock County, Georgia in 1794. He served as a brigadier general in the Georgia Militia from 1823 to 1825. McDonald served as the 37th Governor of Georgia from 1839 to 1843, defeating the Whig candidate William Crosby Dawson. In addition to serving in the Georgia Senate and Georgia House of Representatives, McDonald also served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia. McDonald died in Marietta, Georgia Marietta is a city in and the county seat of Cobb County, Georgia, United States. At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 60,972. Charles McDonald (25 August 186013 November 1925) was an Australian politician who served in the House of Representatives from 1901 until his death, representing the Labor Party. He was Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1910 to 1913 and from 1914 to 1917. Before entering federal politics, McDonald had served in the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1893 to 1901. Early life and career Charles McDonald was born in North Melbourne, Victoria. He lived a transient life as a child with his family living in four colonies. He was living in Mudgee, New South Wales, when he left school, becoming an apprentice printer. However, he later switched trades becoming a watchmaker. Charles McDonald (born 11 June 1935) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician. He was a Senator from 1961 to 1973 and from 1977 to 1992, a Teachta Dála (TD) from 1973 to 1977, and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1973 to 1979. Biography From County Laois, he was a farmer before entering politics, he was elected in 1961 to the 10th Seanad on the Agricultural Panel, and held his Seanad seat until the 1973 general election, when he was elected to the 20th Dáil for the Laois–Offaly constituency (which he had contested unsuccessfully in 1969). He lost his seat in Dáil Éireann at 1977 general election, and although he stood in the next four general elections, he never returned to the Dáil. Lieutenant Colonel Sir Charles George McDonald (25 March 1892 – 23 April 1970) was an Australian physician, army officer and academic. He was noted for his work as a physician in the field of Tuberculosis and during the Second World War served in Greece and Palestine as a lieutenant colonel in the Australian Imperial Force.
