Charles Lawrence Dundas
Hon. Charles Lawrence Dundas (18 July 1771 – 25 January 1810) was a British politician and Whig Member of Parliament in the House of Commons. He represented Malton from 1798–1805 and Richmond from 1806 to his death. Early life and education Dundas was born in St George Hanover Square, London, the third son of Thomas Dundas and Lady Charlotte Fitzwilliam. His grandfathers were Sir Lawrence Dundas, 1st Baronet and William Fitzwilliam, 3rd Earl Fitzwilliam. His father succeeded to the baronetcy in 1781 and in 1794 was raised to the peerage as Baron Dundas. His eldest brother was Lawrence Dundas, 1st Earl of Zetland (1766–1839), and Rear Admiral Hon. George Heneage Lawrence Dundas (1778–1834) and Sir Robert Lawrence Dundas (1780–1844) were his younger brothers. Whigs (British Political Party)
The Whigs were a political faction and then a political party in the Parliaments of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom. Between the 1680s and the 1850s, the Whigs contested power with their rivals, the Tories. The Whigs merged into the new Liberal Party with the Peelites and Radicals in the 1850s, and other Whigs left the Liberal Party in 1886 to form the Liberal Unionist Party, which merged into the Liberals' rival, the modern day Conservative Party, in 1912. The Whigs began as a political faction that opposed absolute monarchy and Catholic Emancipation, supporting constitutional monarchism with a parliamentary system. Robert Chaloner (MP)
Robert Chaloner, FRS (23 September 1776 – 7 October 1842) was an English Member of Parliament and Lord Mayor of York. Born the son of William Chaloner of Guisborough, Yorkshire he was educated at Harrow School. He succeeded his elder brother Thomas in 1796 to Guisborough Hall. He joined the North West Riding yeomanry as a Cornet, becoming a captain in 1798. He was a major in the Cleveland Volunteers in 1803 and in the North Riding militia in 1808. He was elected MP for Richmond in 1810, sitting until 1818 and then elected again in 1820 for York, sitting until 1826. The 1806 United Kingdom general election was the election of members to the 3rd Parliament of the United Kingdom. This was the second general election to be held after the Acts of Union 1800, Union of Great Britain and Ireland. The general election took place in a situation of considerable uncertainty about the future of British politics, following the sudden death of William Pitt the Younger and the formation of the Ministry of all the Talents. The second United Kingdom Parliament was dissolved on 24 October 1806. The new Parliament was summoned to meet on 13 December 1806, for a maximum seven-year term from that date. Freeman Murray
General Freeman Murray CB (16 November 1804 – 14 April 1885) was a British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding Eastern District. Murray was born in France, the son of General John Murray and his second wife, Canadian Maria Pascoe. Military career Murray was commissioned as an ensign in the 64th Regiment of Foot on 5 March 1825. After commanding the 72nd Regiment of Foot, he served as Governor of Bermuda from 1854 to 1859 and again from 1860 to 1861. He went on to be General Officer Commanding, Chatham District in January 1867 and General Officer Commanding Eastern District in April 1870. There have been three baronetcies created for members of the Gore family, all in the Baronetage of Ireland. All three titles are extant. The family also holds two earldoms and a barony. Frederick Dundas (14 June 1802 – 26 October 1872) was a British politician. Background Dundas was the son of the Hon. Charles Dundas, Member of Parliament for Malton, younger son of Thomas Dundas, 1st Baron Dundas. Aubrey Beauclerk, 5th Duke of St Albans (3 June 1740 – 9 February 1802) was a British landowner, and a collector of antiquities and works of art. Early life Aubrey Beauclerk was born in 1740, the son of Admiral Vere Beauclerk, 1st Baron Vere (third son of Charles Beauclerk, 1st Duke of St Albans) and Mary Chambers (eldest daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Chambers of Hanworth Park, Middlesex). Career From 1761 to 1768, he served as Member of Parliament for Thetford; from 1768 to 1774 he was Member for Aldborough. In 1778, Beauclerk and his wife went to Rome, following rumours in the press concerning Catherine Beauclerk's relationship with Thomas Brand (junior).
