Charles Lamb (actor)
Charles Lamb (20 November 1900 – 19 March 1989) was a British stage, film and television actor. Previously an engineer, he made his theatre debut in 1924. His stage work included appearing in the original theatrical production of '' Brighton Rock'' at the Garrick Theatre in 1943. His longest running role was as Mrs Dale's gardener, Monument, in the radio soap opera ''Mrs Dale's Diary''. ''Reach for the Sky'' is a 1956 British biographical film about aviator Douglas Bader, based on the 1954 biography of the same name by Paul Brickhill. The film stars Kenneth More and was directed by Lewis Gilbert. It won the BAFTA Award for Best British Film of 1956. The film's composer John Addison was Bader's brother-in-law. Plot In 1928, Douglas Bader joins the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a Flight Cadet. ''Impulse'' is a 1954 British film noir directed by Cy Endfield and starring Arthur Kennedy, Constance Smith and Joy Shelton. It was shot at the Walton Studios near London with sets designed by the art director Wilfred Arnold. Plot Alan Curtis (Kennedy), an American estate agent living in England, is dissatisfied with his humdrum life. With his wife Elizabeth (Shelton) on a short break visiting her mother, he gives a lift to sultry nightclub singer Lila (Smith) when he finds her stranded on the road at night.
