Charles L. Mullins Jr.
Charles Love Mullins Jr. (7 September 1892 – 1 March 1976) was a United States Army major general (United States), major general. During World War II, he commanded the 25th Infantry Division (United States), 25th Infantry Division on Luzon in 1945 during the Philippines campaign (1944–1945), Philippines campaign. Before the war, he helped establish the National Guard (Nicaragua)#Military Academy – AMN, Academia Militar de Nicaragua and served as its first director. Early life and education Mullins was born in September 1892 in Gretna, Nebraska and graduated from Broken Bow High School (Broken Bow, Nebraska), Broken Bow High School in 1910. He entered the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York in June 1913, graduating, 105th out of 139, in April 1917, shortly after the American entry into World War I, with a commission in the infantry. Gretna, Nebraska
Gretna is a city in Sarpy County, Nebraska, Sarpy County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 4,441 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. History Gretna started shortly after the Burlington Railroad built a short line between Omaha, Nebraska, Omaha and Ashland, Nebraska, Ashland in the summer of 1886. Advent of the village of Gretna on this new laid rail line was the cue for the exit of the nearby trading post of Forest City, which had existed since 1856. In its day, Forest City, located 2.5 miles southwest of where Gretna now stands, was a flourishing and busy place, but it was doomed by the rail road which passed it by. The only marker that exists today to show the site of old Forest City is the cemetery (Holy Sepulcher) which is located a little to the east of what was the center of activity in the settlement.
