Charles Holloway (born 1789 in England; died 23 October 1846 at Stockbridge, Hampshire) was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1816 to 1822. Charles Holloway (engineer)
Major-General Sir Charles Holloway (1749–1827) was an officer in the Royal Engineers. He served at the Great Siege of Gibraltar and returned later as Commanding Royal Engineer when he destroyed the Spanish fortifications (Lines of Contravallation of Gibraltar, Lines of Contravallation) between Spain and Gibraltar. Life Holloway was born to unrecorded parents on 17 April 1749. At the age of fifteen he entered the drawing room of the board of ordnance at the Tower of London - a building that he would later improve. In 1772 he was sent to help the commanding royal engineer with his plans for new fortifications at Portsmouth and where he became a second lieutenant in the royal engineers. Great Siege of Gibraltar In 1777 Holloway went to Gibraltar and in 1779, in the first year of the Great Siege of Gibraltar, he was staff officer to the chief engineer, Colonel William Green (general), William Green. Charles Holloway (1848 – 29 November 1908) was a stage actor and manager in Australia. History Holloway was born the youngest son of William Michael Holloway and Emma Holloway née Symonds. He grew up in the Goulburn district of New South Wales, and was an active member of the Goulburn Amateur Dramatic Club, whose members included J. J. "Jack" Kennedy (April 1857 – 22 May 1896). For many years he was a prominent member of Bland Holt's company at the Theatre Royal. He was in 1884 a member of the cast for the premiere season of Charles Darrell's '' The Sunny South'' at the Melbourne Opera House. In 1887 he formed the Charles Holloway Dramatic Company, playing drama such as Sims and Buchanan's ''The English Rose'', then turned to comedy and melodrama with Pinero's '' The Magistrate'', Frank Harvey's melodramas '' Judge Not'', and ''Ring of Iron''. Camp Holloway
Camp Holloway is a former U.S. Army base near Pleiku in central Vietnam. History Camp Holloway was established in 1962. It was located along Route 19 approximately 3km east of Pleiku in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The camp was named in 1963 for Piasecki CH-21 helicopter pilot Warrant Officer Charles E. Holloway, who in December 1962 became the first aviator assigned to the 81st Transportation Company to be killed in action. The 81st Transportation Company, re-equipped in 1963 with UH-1 helicopters, later became the 119th Assault Helicopter Company. A Viet Cong attack in the early morning hours of February 7, 1965, killed seven, wounded 104 and destroyed 10 aircraft. This prompted U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson to begin bombing North Vietnam. In December 1965 the 170th Aviation Company joined with the 119th to create the 52nd Aviation Battalion.
