Charles Gregory (rugby League)
Charles Gregory (2 July 1901 – 12 October 1988) was a rugby league player who represented New Zealand in 40 matches including 3 tests from 1925 to 1930. When he debuted for New Zealand in 1925 he became Kiwi number 171. He predominantly played fullback during his career though he played standoff and centre at various points. He also represented Auckland in both rugby league and rugby union and played for the Ponsonby rugby club and the Marist rugby league club. Early life Charles Edward Gregory was born on 2 July 1901. He was the son of mother Johanna Drysdale Gregory, and father William John Gregory. He had four older brothers, Thomas (1891-1975), William James (1895-1977), Frederick Arthur (1898-1979), and George Robert (1896-1963), and a younger brother Albert John (1904-1983). Paeroa
Paeroa is a town in the Hauraki District of the Waikato Region in the North Island of New Zealand. Located at the base of the Coromandel Peninsula, it is close to the junction of the Waihou River and Ohinemuri River, and is approximately 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) south of the Firth of Thames. New Zealanders know the town for its mineral springs, which in the past provided the water used in a local soft drink, " Lemon & Paeroa". The town stands at the intersection of State Highways 2 and 26, and is the central service location for the Hauraki District. Karl Ifwersen
Karl Donald Ifwersen (1893–1967) was a New Zealand rugby football player who represented New Zealand in both rugby league and rugby union. Early years Karl Donald Ifwersen was born on January 6 in Auckland, New Zealand. His parents were Charles Ernest Ifwersen (1868-1910), and Margaret Marion Bedell (1869-1944). He had 6 siblings; Margaret Zeka Ifwersen (1894-1944), Roy Ifwersen (1896-1940), Doris Norma Ifwersen (1899-1989), Esme Ifwersen (1901-1937), Alfred Neil Sinclair Ifwersen (1904-1963), and Mary Clyde Ifwersen (1907-1988). The Hawke's Bay Rugby Union (HBRU) is the governing body of rugby union in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand. The union is based in Napier. The Hawke's Bay representative team are nicknamed ''The Magpies''. History The Hawke's Bay Rugby Union was founded in 1884. This makes it the oldest Provincial Rugby Union outside the four main centres. Hawke's Bay has a very good Ranfurly Shield record with 24 defences from 1922 to 1927, 21 successful defences between 1966 and 1969 as well as 2 defences in 1934. Hawke's Bay won the shield again, claiming it from Otago, on 1 September 2013. They lost the shield soon after to Counties-Manukau, before winning it back from them in August 2014. McLean Park is a sports ground in Napier, New Zealand. The two main sports played at the ground are cricket and rugby union. It is one of the largest cricket grounds in New Zealand. The Otago Rugby Football Union is the official governing body of rugby union for the Otago region of New Zealand. The union is based in the city of Dunedin, and its home ground is Forsyth Barr Stadium. The top representative team competes in the ITM Cup, New Zealand's top provincial competition. The Whanganui Rugby Football Union (WRFU) is the governing body for rugby union in the Whanganui region of New Zealand. The Whanganui Rugby Football Union was formed in 1888.
