Charles F. Adams House
The Charles F. Adams House is a historic house located in northwest Portland, Oregon, United States. It was designed by the eminent firm of Whidden and Lewis, one of a trio of adjacent residences designed by that firm. Built in the Georgian Revival style in 1904 and expanded in 1918, it was extensively restored in 1979. The original owner was Charles Francis Adams (1862–1943), a scion of the family of presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, and a prominent Portland banker, art collector, and patron of the Portland Art Museum.. Alphabet Historic District
The Alphabet Historic District, is a historic district in the Northwest District of Portland, Oregon which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It is in area and includes 478 contributing buildings. With It is roughly bounded by NW Lovejoy St., NW Marshall St., NW 17th Ave., W. Burnside St., and NW 24th Ave. It is an area zoned for historic preservation, about 50 blocks in size, extending roughly between NW 17th and 24th Avenues, and between W Burnside and NW Marshall Streets. In 2000, the Alphabet Historic District, which covers parts of streets from Burnside ("B Street") to N.W. The Portland Art Museum in Portland, Oregon, United States, was founded in 1892, making it one of the oldest art museums on the West Coast and seventh oldest in the US. Upon completion of the most recent renovations, the Portland Art Museum became one of the 25 largest art museums in the US, at a total of 240,000 square feet (22,000 m2), with more than 112,000 square feet (10,400 m2) of gallery space.
