Charles Eugene Boucher
Charles Eugene Boucher (December 1, 1864February 1926) was a Canadian politician. He served on the North-West Legislative Assembly for Batoche from 1891 to 1898. Early life Charles Eugene Boucher was born December 1, 1864 to Jean Baptiste Boucher and Caroline Lesperance. Boucher's maternal grandfather was voyageur Alexis Bonami. On August 18, 1886, Boucher married Helene Letendre, the daughter of François-Xavier Letendre. Political life Boucher contested the Batoche electoral district in the 1891 North-West Territories general election. He initially lost the election to Charles Nolin, who was subsequently removed from office by a court order after being found guilty of bribery and fraud. Boucher was re-elected in the 1894 North-West Territories general election, defeating David Venne with 101 votes to 76. Musselshell County, Montana
Musselshell County is a county in south-central Montana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 4,730. Its county seat is Roundup. History Musselshell County was created in 1911 by Montana Governor Edwin L. Norris. The area was taken from Fergus, from Yellowstone, and Meagher counties. It was named for the Musselshell River which runs southwest–northeast through the county. That river had been thus named in 1805 by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, due to the abundance of freshwater mussels found along its banks. In 1915, a western portion of the county was partitioned off to form Golden Valley County, giving Musselshell County its present boundaries. The county's northwestern area is rolling grasslands, which slope southeastward to the Musselshell River and the forested Bull Mountains in the southeast. 1898 North-West Territories General Election
The 1898 North-West Territories general election took place on 4 November 1898. This was the fourth general election in the history of the North-West Territories, Canada. It was held to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of the North-West Territories. Frederick W. A. G. Haultain was still the first premier of the North-West Territories (NWT). That title was given by legislation passed in 1897. He was the last premier of the NWT until 1980. There were three big issues in this election, the first being acquiring provincial rights and how to divide the NWT into provinces. The second issue was the transfer of education from the federal to the territorial level. This was Haultain's personal project. Unfortunately for the NWT, that power was not turned over until 1970. The 1894 North-West Territories general election was held on 31 October 1894. This was the third general election in the history of the North-West Territories, Canada. It was held to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of the North-West Territories, the writs were dropped on 3 October 1894. Frederick Haultain continued to lead the government. This was the first general election a secret ballot was held, with voters marking an X on a blank piece of paper in the colour that corresponds to their candidate. Charles Nolin
Charles Nolin (2 March 1838 – 28 January 1907) was a Métis farmer and political organizer noted for his role in the opposition of the North-West Resistance of 1885. He was educated by the bishop Provencher, then worked as a fur trader and a merchant. North-West Legislative Assembly
The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly, or Legislative Council of the Northwest Territories (with Northwest hyphenated as North-West until 1906), is the legislature and the seat of government of Northwest Territories in Canada. It is a unicameral elected body that creates and amends law in the Northwest Territories. Permanently located in Yellowknife since 1993, the assembly was founded in 1870 and became active in 1872 with the first appointments from the Government of Canada. Until 2014, the assembly was officially defined under federal law as "Legislative Council". However, under Northwest Territories territorial law, it was defined as "Legislative Assembly". The 1891 North-West Territories general election was held on 7 November 1891 to elect 25 members of the Legislative Assembly of the North-West Territories, Canada. It was the second general election in the History of the North-West Territories. The legislature for the first time had no appointed members. It had 25 elected members, six more than in the previous election: the assembly had grown by three members; the three appointed "at large" legal advisors who had sat in the assembly in the first legislature were no longer there.
