Charles Edward Ernest Papendiek (1801–1835) was an English architect of German descent. Life He was the youngest son of Christopher Papendiek and his wife Charlotte, respectively a court musician and a lady in waiting at the court of George III and Queen Charlotte. Charlotte Papendiek
Charlotte Louise Henriette Papendiek (née Albert; 2 July 1765, London – 24 April 1840, Windsor) was a lady-in-waiting to Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, consort to George III of Great Britain. Life Charlotte was the daughter of Friedrich Albert (born 28 January 1733, Frankfurt am Main), who in 1755 had entered the service of Adolphus Frederick IV, Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. When Adolphus Frederick's 17-year-old sister Charlotte married George III in 1761, Friedrich Albert followed her to Britain as a page, barber and hairdresser. Friedrich's daughter Charlotte married Christopher Papendiek, a violinist, flautist and court musician to George III, on 16 January 1783 in St George's Hanover Square. They had six children, including the diplomat and painter George Ernest Papendiek (1788–1835) and the architect Charles Edward Ernest Papendiek (1801–1835). Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (Sophia Charlotte; 19 May 1744 – 17 November 1818) was Queen of Great Britain and of Ireland as the wife of King George III from their marriage on 8 September 1761 until the union of the two kingdoms on 1 January 1801, after which she was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland until her death in 1818. As George's wife, she was also Electress of Hanover until becoming Queen of Hanover on 12 October 1814, when the electorate became a kingdom. Charlotte was Britain's longest-serving queen consort. John Soane
Sir John Soane (; né Soan; 10 September 1753 – 20 January 1837) was an English architect who specialised in the Neoclassical architecture, Neo-Classical style. The son of a bricklayer, he rose to the top of his profession, becoming professor of architecture at the Royal Academy and an official architect to the Office of Works. He received a Knight Bachelor, knighthood in 1831. His best-known work was the Bank of England (his work there is largely destroyed), a building which had a widespread effect on commercial architecture. He also designed Dulwich Picture Gallery, which, with its top-lit galleries, was a major influence on the planning of subsequent art galleries and museums. His main legacy is Sir John Soane's Museum, the eponymous museum in Lincoln's Inn Fields in his former home and office, designed to display the art works and architectural artefacts that he collected during his lifetime.
