Charles Eaton is an English actor known for his stiff upper lip roles in British films of the 1930s and 40s. He appeared in a number of films by the director Maurice Elvey, his most prominent role being that of Captain Royde in Elvey's ''Who Goes Next?'' (1938). Maurice Elvey (11 November 1887 – 28 August 1967) was one of the most prolific film directors in British history. He directed nearly 200 films between 1913 and 1957. During the silent film era he directed as many as twenty films per year. The Gaunt Stranger
''The Gaunt Stranger'' (released as ''The Phantom Strikes'' in the US) is a 1938 British mystery thriller film directed by Walter Forde. It stars Sonnie Hale, Wilfrid Lawson and Alexander Knox. Plot A notorious killer, long believed to have died in Australia, returns to England seeking revenge for the death of his sister.
