Charles E. Turner (politician)
Charles Edward Turner (September 13, 1886 – March 5, 1936) was an American real estate developer and politician who served as mayor of Dallas from 1932 to 1935. Biography Turner was born in Richardson, Texas to John Edward Turner and Mary E. Heffington. He married Valine Leachman, daughter of George Sidney Leachman and Margaret Eugenia Whaley. They had two children. He began his career as a traveling salesman for a drug company. By 1914 he had become involved in real estate. In 1917 he enlisted and was commissioned as an officer in the 345th Machine Gun Battalion. He was given his own command in 1919 and saw action service in France. Returning to Dallas after the war, he continued making a living through real estate establishing his own company. Tom Bradford
Thomas Leonard Bradford (February 13, 1869 – August 22, 1932) was Mayor of Dallas, Texas from 1931 until his death by heart attack in 1932. Tom Bradford was born in Port Hudson, Louisiana to the Rev. Harrison Bradford and Elizabeth Shelmire Bradford. Bradford graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana before moving to Dallas in 1887. George Sergeant
George William Sergeant (December 2, 1881 – August 26, 1971) was an attorney and mayor of Dallas,Texas from 1932 to 1935. Biography Sergeant was born on December 2, 1881, in Mansfield, Texas, to Gustavis A. Sergeant and Harriet (Hattie) P. Baldwin. He married Mary Marshall Brown, daughter of Dr. Horace M. Brown and Mary Elizabeth Rudd, on August 25, 1909, in Union, West Virginia. They had two children. Their first child, Mary Marshall Sergeant, died in infancy. He attended school in Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas where he also received his law degree. In 1908 he began private practice in Dallas, but was soon appointed city judge.
