Charles E. Bolin
Charles E. Bolin (April 29, 1843 – April 12, 1924) was an American politician and businessman. Bolin was born in DeWitt County, Illinois near Wapella, Illinois. Bolin was involved with the banking business in Milton, Illinois in Pike County, Illinois. He served on the Pike County Board and was chairman of the county board. DeWitt County, Illinois
DeWitt County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of the 2010 census, the population was 16,561. Its county seat is Clinton. The county was formed on March 1, 1839, from Macon and McLean counties. The county was named in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton. DeWitt County is included in Bloomington–Normal, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The U.S. Census Bureau and the USGS list the county's name as De Witt, although the county uses the name DeWitt (no space). Wapella, Illinois
Wapella is a village in DeWitt County, Illinois, United States. The population was 513 at the 2020 census. History Wapella was founded in 1854, but settlers were arriving in Wapella as early as 1829 due to the dense timber and rich soil. The name of the village comes from Chief Wapella of the Musquakee Indian tribe. A group of settlers from Kentucky were the first Europeans to call Wapella home. A short time later a substantial group of Irish immigrants moved to Wapella to build and work on the Illinois Central Railroad. Wapella was laid out by David Neil, vice president and a surveyor of the Illinois Central Railroad Line. The village population was approximately 500 residents by the beginning of the Civil War. Pike County, Illinois
Pike County is a county in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2010 United States Census, it had a population of 16,430. Its county seat is Pittsfield. History Pike County was formed in January 1821 out of Madison County. It was named in honor of Zebulon Pike, leader of the Pike Expedition in 1806 to map out the south and west portions of the Louisiana Purchase. Pike served at the Battle of Tippecanoe, and was killed in 1813 in the War of 1812. Prior to the coming of the first European settler to the future Pike County, French traders, hunters, and travelers passed through the native forests and prairies.
