Charles Daley
Charles "Tod" Daley, (July 27, 1890 – August 10, 1976) was a Canadian politician. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1943 to 1963 as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, and was a cabinet minister in the governments of George Drew, Thomas, and Leslie Frost. Background Daley was born in St. Catharines in 1890. He served in the First World War. Politics He was elected alderman of St. Catharines in 1935 and later became mayor of the city. He was elected to the Ontario legislature in the 1943 provincial election in the local southwestern Ontario riding of Lincoln. Two weeks after the election he was appointed to George Drew's Cabinet as Minister of Labour. He served in that role for the next 18 years through three successive premiers. When John Robarts took power in 1961 he was retained in Cabinet as a Minister without portfolio. He retired before the 1963 election. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission is an international public agency which administers three international bridges across the Niagara River connecting the province of Ontario, Canada and the state of New York, United States: the Lewiston–Queenston Bridge, Whirlpool Rapids Bridge and Rainbow Bridge. The NFBC is incorporated as a class D New York State public benefit corporation and is licensed to operate in Ontario under the Extra-Provincial Corporations Act. The Niagara Parks Commission, commonly shortened to Niagara Parks, is an agency of the Government of Ontario which maintains the Ontario shoreline of the Niagara River. History The Commission was founded in 1885 and charged with preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Niagara Falls and the Niagara River corridor as a public greenspace and environmental heritage. Bill Warrender
William Kenneth Warrender (August 5, 1908 – April 6, 1997) was a Canadian politician, who represented Hamilton Centre in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1951 to 1962 as a Progressive Conservative member. Prior to his service in the Legislature, Warrender was a lawyer and civic politician in Hamilton. Early life and political career Warrender was born in Stoney Creek, Ontario in 1908. He attended the Hamilton Collegiate Institute, followed by post-secondary studies at both McMaster University and Osgoode Law School. Practicing as a lawyer in Hamilton, Warrender's first foray into politics saw him elected to Hamilton, Ontario City Council in 1940 as an alderman for Ward Two. He served in this position for two terms until the beginning of the Second World War. Peter Heenan
Peter Heenan, (February 19, 1875 – May 12, 1948) was a Canadian union leader and politician, and also served as a cabinet minister at the federal and provincial levels. Early life Born in Tullaree, near Newcastle, County Down, Ireland, Heenan worked as a pit boy at St Helen's Colliery in Cumberland, where he tested work on the mine's railways, and then worked on the Costa Rica Railway in Central America. An attack of yellow fever forced Heenan to move to Canada in 1902, where he first worked on a Western ranch, and then as a locomotive engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway on the run between Winnipeg and Kenora. The experience he had acquired in Costa Rica as a diver also proved useful when he was called to help out in a train wreck just outside Kenora, where the locomotive had plunged down underwater.
