Charles Clarendon Ballou
Charles Clarendon Ballou (June 13, 1862 – July 23, 1928) was a United States Army officer who attained the rank of major general during World War I. Early life Ballou was born in Orange, New York. P. 19 John J. Pershing was among his fellow classmates. Career Upon graduation, Ballou was commissioned in the Sixteenth Infantry and was on frontier duty in the Far West. Orange, New York
Orange is a town in Schuyler County, New York, United States. The population was 1,409 at the 2020 census. The Town of Orange is in the southwestern part of the county and is east of Bath. History The first settlements took place ''circa'' 1798. The town was formed from Town of Wayne in 1813 as the "Town of Jersey" while still part of Steuben County. The current name was adopted in 1836. Orange was increased by parts of Hornby (1842) and Bradford (1854). The town was made part of the new Schuyler County in 1854. Hornby is a town in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population was 1,682 at the 2020 census. The name is from John Hornby, a land owner of the Pulteney Tract. The Town of Hornby is located on the eastern border of the county, north of Corning. History The first settlers were Asa and Uriah Nash, in 1814. The town was created in 1826 from part of the Town of Corning (then known as "Painted Post"). In 1831, part of Hornby was used to found the Town of Campbell, and another part of Hornby was added in 1842 to the Town of Orange (now in Schuyler County). Fort George Wright
Fort George Wright is a land area in the northwest United States, located in Spokane, Washington's West Hills neighborhood. It is named after General George Wright, who had been stationed in the area. History In 1895, local residents purchased the area then known as ''Twickenham Park'', which was deeded to the government for the construction of a military post. With Congress’ authorization, the $40,000 purchase of was made in 1896. Construction of the fort began in 1897 and it officially opened in 1899. Most of the buildings present were built between 1897 and 1906. In 1909-1910 the fort was used to imprison members of the Industrial Workers of the World arrested during the Spokane Free Speech Fight.
