Charles Capps
Charles Emmitt Capps (January 4, 1934 – February 23, 2014) was an American Christian preacher and teacher in the Word of Faith movement. During his lifetime, Capps had influenced the Word of Faith movement through various publications, as well as, directly in his role as a preacher. Biography Charles Capps was born on January 4, 1934, to Emmet and Minnie Capps in Burmmitt, Arkansas. His family owned a farm, on which he lived as a child. Immediately after graduating from high-school, Capps followed this tradition and began farming in the Lonoke County area. By the age of seventeen, he could fly civilian aircraft and became a member of the "flying farmers". In 1951, he was married to Peggy Capps, and by 1978, he had retired on being a farmer to pursue full-time ministry. During his middle age, Capps enjoyed rising popularity as a preacher and religious figure, and often spoke at seminars and conventions. Lonoke County, Arkansas
Lonoke County is located in the Central Arkansas region of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 68,356, making it the 11th-most populous of Arkansas's 75 counties. The county seat is Lonoke and largest city is Cabot. Lonoke County was formed on April 16, 1873, from Pulaski County and Prairie County, and was named as a corruption of "lone oak", after a large red oak in the area that had been used by a surveyor to lay out the Memphis and Little Rock Railroad. Word Of Faith
Word of Faith is a movement within charismatic Christianity which teaches that Christians can get power and financial prosperity through prayer, and that those who believe in Jesus' death and resurrection have the right to physical health. The movement was founded by the American Kenneth Hagin in the 1960s, and has its roots in the teachings of E. W. Kenyon. History The Baptist minister E.W. Kenyon (1867–1948) is generally cited as the originator of Word of Faith's teachings. Kenyon's writings influenced Kenneth Hagin Sr., the recognized "father" of the Word of Faith movement. Kenneth Copeland
Kenneth Max Copeland (born December 6, 1936) is an American televangelist associated with the charismatic movement. The organization he founded in 1967, Eagle Mountain International Church Inc. (EMIC), is based in Tarrant County, Texas. Copeland's sermons are broadcast across the US and worldwide on the Victory Channel. Copeland has also written several books and resources. He preaches the prosperity gospel and is part of the Word of Faith movement. Copeland has written that parishioners will get a "hundredfold" return on their investment through giving to God. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Copeland claimed that the pandemic had ended or would soon end and that his followers would be healed from the virus.
