Charles Borromeo Fitzgerald
Charles Borromeo Fitzgerald (28 June 1865 – 10 February 1913) was a barrister and politician from Queensland, Australia. Fitzgerald was born in 1865 in Rockhampton, Queensland, the fifth son of Jessie and Thomas Henry Fitzgerald. He received his education in France and was a noted scholar. He became a barrister and he married Joan Mary Cahill from Ireland. Fitzgerald was a captain with the Queensland Irish Volunteers. The resignation of John Francis Buckland caused a 1892 Bulimba colonial by-election, by-election in 1892 for a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland representing the Electoral district of Bulimba. Fitzgerald contested the election for the Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), Labor Party, but was defeated by James Dickson (Queensland politician), James Dickson. Electoral District Of Mitchell (Queensland)
Mitchell was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland, Australia. History The electoral district of Mitchell was created by the Additional Members Act of 1864 which introduced six new single-member electorates. A by-election was held to fill the seat. The nomination date was 18 March 1865 and the election was held on 25 March 1865. In 1885, part of Mitchell was removed to form the new Electoral district of Barcoo. In 1931, a redistribution absorbed Mitchell into the Electoral district of Barcoo and the Electoral district of Gregory. James Dickson (Queensland Politician)
Sir James Robert Dickson, (30 November 183210 January 1901) was an Australian politician and businessman, the 13th Premier of Queensland and a member of the first federal ministry. Early life Dickson was born on 30 November 1832 in Plymouth, Devon, England. He was the only son of Mary Maria (née Palmer) and James Dickson. He was educated in Scotland at the High School of Glasgow, and subsequently worked as a junior clerk at the City of Glasgow Bank. Dickson arrived in Australia in 1854 during the Victorian gold rush. He initially worked for the Bank of Australasia and then for Rae, Dickson & Co., his cousin's merchant firm. He moved to the Colony of Queensland in 1862, working for an estate agent for a period and then establishing himself as an auctioneer and land agent. Longreach is a town and a locality in the Longreach Region, Queensland, Australia. It is the administrative centre of the Longreach Regional Council, which was established in 2008 as a merger of the former Longreach, Ilfracombe, and Isisford shires.
