Charles Benedict (sport Shooter)
Charles Sumner Benedict (May 5, 1867 – November 22, 1952) was an American sport shooter, who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. He was born in Barlow Township and died in Gallipolis, Ohio. In the 1908 Olympics he won a gold medal in the team military rifle event and finished 13th in the 1000 yard free rifle event. Barlow Township is one of the twenty-two townships of Washington County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 2,560 people in the township. Geography Located in the western part of the county, it borders the following townships: * Watertown Township - north * Warren Township - east * Dunham Township - south * Fairfield Township - west * Palmer Township - northwest No municipalities are located in Barlow Township, although the unincorporated communities of Barlow and Vincent lie in the township's west and south respectively. Gallipolis ( ) is a chartered village in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Gallia County. The municipality is located in Southeast Ohio along the Ohio River about 55 miles southeast of Chillicothe and 44 miles northwest of Charleston, West Virginia.
