Charles Bartlett (American Football)
Charles Henry "Stumpy" Bartlett (June 14, 1899 – March 29, 1965) was a college football player. Early years Bartlett was from Marlin, Texas. University of Alabama Bartlett was a prominent halfback and quarterback for Xen C. Scott's Alabama Crimson Tide football teams of the University of Alabama. 1922 Bartlett starred in the first ever meeting against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels in 1922. Alabama won 41–0 before 3,000 fans at Tuscaloosa.1922 Season Recap Bartlett scored five of their six touchdowns in the victory. He scored touchdowns on a 26-yard run in the first, a 15-yard reception from Hulet Whitaker in the second, and on a pair of runs in the third and one in the fourth. In the tie against Sewanee, Bartlett threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Allen MacCartee. The upset of Penn 9–7 on November 4 was the highlight of the year. Marlin, Texas
Marlin is a city in Falls County, Texas, Falls County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,462 at the 2020 census. Since 1851, it has been the county seat of Falls County. Marlin has been given the nickname "The Hot Mineral Water City of Texas" by the 76th Texas State Legislature. Mineral water was discovered there in 1892. Allison Hubert
Allison Thomas Stanislaus "Pooley" Hubert (April 6, 1901 – February 26, 1978) was an American football player and coach of football and basketball. Regarded as one of the South's greatest college football stars, he played quarterback for coach Wallace Wade's football teams at the University of Alabama from 1922 to 1925, leading Alabama to its first bowl game, the 1926 Rose Bowl, known as "the game that changed the South." Wade called him "undoubtedly one of the greatest football players of all time." Hubert later became the head football and basketball coach at the at Mississippi State Teachers College—now known as University of Southern Mississippi—and Virginia Military Institute. Walter Camp
Walter Chauncey Camp (April 7, 1859 – March 14, 1925) was an American football player, coach, and sports writer known as the "Father of American Football". Among a long list of inventions, he created the sport's line of scrimmage and the system of downs. With John Heisman, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Pop Warner, Fielding H. Yost, and George Halas, Camp was one of the most accomplished persons in the early history of American football. He attended Yale College, where he played and coached college football. Camp's Yale teams of 1888, 1891, and 1892 have been recognized as national champions. Camp was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach during 1951. Camp wrote articles and books on the gridiron and sports in general, annually publishing an "All-American" team. By the time of his death, he had written nearly 30 books and more than 250 magazine articles. Denny Field (Alabama)
Denny Field was located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and served as the home field for the University of Alabama football team from 1915 through the 1928 seasons, excluding 1918 when a team was not fielded due to World War I. The field was located at the intersection of 10th Street and 7th Avenue at the southern edge of the University of Alabama campus.
