Chapora River
Chapora River is a river in northern Goa, India. It runs westward into the Arabian sea at Chapora and demarcates the border between the North Goa talukas of Pernem and Bardez. The river originates at Ramghat in the neighbouring state of Maharashtra enters Goa and flows into the Arabian Sea. Vagator Beach, a tourist destination, is located at the estuary to the south, and to the north is the village of Morjim. There is a bridge across Chapora from Morjim to Siolim. The tributaries of Chapora include Anjuna River and Calna River. In the 18th century, the river marked the boundary between Portuguese Goa and India. Chapora Fort
Chapora Fort (, Devanagari: शापोरा), located in Bardez, Goa, rises high above the Chapora River. The site was the location of a fort built by Muslim ruler Adil Shah called Shahpura, whose name the Portuguese altered to Chapora. It is now become a popular tourist spot and offers a view north across the Chapora river to Pernem, south over Vagator and also far out to the Arabian Sea in the West. History The fort changed hands several times after Portuguese acquired Bradez. Trying to end the Portuguese rule in Goa, Prince Akbar joined his father's enemies, the Marathas in 1683 and made this place his base camp. It became the northern outpost of the Old Conquests. Morjim
Morjim (pronounced Morji the alphabet m is silent) is a Census Town in Pernem, Goa, India; it is situated on the northern bank of the Chapora River estuary. It is home to a variety of birds and is a nesting site for Olive Ridley sea turtles. The village has become known as "Little Russia" because of the concentration of Russian immigrants living there. Calna River
Vad ( hu, Révkolostor) is a commune in Cluj County, Transylvania, Romania. It is made up of seven villages: Bogata de Jos (''Alsóbogáta''), Bogata de Sus (''Felsőbogáta''), Calna (''Kálna''), Cetan (''Csatány''), Curtuiușu Dejului (''Déskörtvélyes''), Vad and Valea Groșilor (''Tőkepataka''). Anjuna River
Anjuna () is a village located on the coast of North Goa, India. It is a Census Town, one of the twelve Brahmin comunidades of Bardez. It is mostly a tourist destination. Its church, St. Michael's Church, Anjuna, founded in 1595, is dedicated to S. Miguel, and celebrates the feasts of S. Miguel (29 September) and Nossa Senhora Advogada (second week of January). There are three large chapels in the parish: the one to S. Antonio (Praias), to Nossa Senhora de Saude (Mazalvaddo), and to Nossa Senhora de Piedade (Grande Chinvar). Siolim
Siolim () is a village in Bardez taluka, and a census town on the central west coast of India, in the North Goa district of Goa. The 2001 population was 10,311, and 10,936 in 2011. Siolim is also the name of a constituency in the Goa assembly, which includes Assagao, Anjuna and Oxel, in addition to Siolim. A person from Siolim is known as a ''Siolcar'' or even as ''Shivalkar'' (). Location Siolim is situated about 7 km (4.3 mi) from Mapusa. It is located around the Chapora River. Vagator
Vagator Beach is the northernmost beach of Bardez Taluka, Goa. It is across the Chapora River from Morjim in Pernem. To the south of Vagator is Anjuna, one of the first hippie haunts of Goa. Etymology The name Vagator is a combination of the terms ''Vaga'' (tiger) and ''tir'' (shore), which means a tiger-infested area. Vagator used to be a densely forested area connected to the Sahyadri mountain range. According to legend, tigers searching for sweet water in the jungle would eventually find their way to the source at the foot of the hill. Bardez
''Bardez'' ( kok, Bardes; pt, Bardes; IPA: ) is a ''taluka'' of the North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It was a ''concelho'' in the Portuguese State of India before 1961.
