Chaplyne ( uk, Чаплине, ; russian: Чаплино) is a rural settlement in Synelnykove Raion, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine. It belongs to Dubovyky rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Its latest estimated population was History The name of the village comes from the small river Chaplyna, which flows near it. It was founded at the end of the 19th century during the construction of the Catherine railway (1882–1884), which connected the Donetsk coal and Kryvorizka iron ore basins. It was a part of Oleksandrivsky District of Katerynoslav Province. After the commissioning of the Chapline-Berdyansk railway branch in 1898, the station turned into a railway hub. From the Ulyanivka station, the track and communication services, as well as the depot, were transferred here. Chaplyne Railway Station Attack
On 24 August 2022, the Independence Day of Ukraine, a railway station in Chaplyne, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, was shelled by the Russian Armed Forces resulting in at least 25 dead (including 2 children aged 6 and 11) and about 31 wounded. Attack On 24 August 2022, Russian troops struck the railway station at Chaplyne, damaging the station, a utility building, and a residential neighborhood. Several passenger rail cars were set on fire and destroyed. Ukrainian sources described multiple rockets or missiles being used in several attacks. The Russian defense ministry claimed it had targeted a military train using a single Iskander missile, and that the attack had killed 200 Ukrainian soldiers. Pokrovske (urban-type Settlement)
Pokrovske ( uk, Покро́вське) is an urban-type settlement in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, east-central Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Pokrovske settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: Pokrovske was first mentioned in historical documents in 1779. The settlement of Pokrovske got status of urban-type settlement in 1957. Synelnykove (, ; , ) is a city and municipality in Synelnykove Raion, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine, the largest city in the south-eastern part of the region.
