Chapin Memorial Church is a historic Universalist church at 12 Ford Avenue in Oneonta, Otsego County, New York. It was built in 1894 and is a one and a half-story brick building on a tall, cut stone foundation. Chapin National Bank Building
The Chapin National Bank Building is a historic bank building at 1675-1677 Main Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. Built in 1917 for a bank founded in 1872 by Chester Chapin, it is a notable local example of Classical Revival architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It now houses other commercial businesses. Description and history The Chapin National Bank Building is located in downtown Springfield, at the northeast corner of Main and Lyman Streets. It is a two-story masonry structure, built out of cast stone. The Lyman Street facade has a classical Doric frieze, with four monumental fluted columns set ''in antis''. The Chapin Block is a historic commercial building at 208-222 Hamilton Street in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1888, it is the only Shingle style commercial building in Southbridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Description and history The Chapin Block is located in Globe Village, a predominantly residential area just north of Southbridge's downtown, occupying a narrow plot of land at the junction of Hamilton and Crane Streets. The building is set to advantage on the oddly-shaped narrow triangular lot, giving the building a flatiron appearance with a rounded point. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with a small tower (that once held a clock) at the point were Hamilton and Crane Streets meet. Chapin School is an all-girls independent day school in New York City's Upper East Side neighborhood in Manhattan. History Maria Bowen Chapin opened "Miss Chapin's School for Girls and Kindergarten for Boys and Girls" in 1901. The school originally enrolled 78 students, who were taught by seven teachers. It developed from a small elementary school Chapin and Alice Wetmore founded in 1894 that was explicitly intended to prepare young girls for success at the Brearley School, which had been created 10 years earlier. Chapin ran the educational side of "Primary Classes for Girls" and Wetmore ran the business end. The two ended their partnership in 1901, and Miss Chapin's School was born.
