''Chaosmosis'' is the eleventh studio album by Scottish band Primal Scream. It was released on 18 March 2016 on the band's First International label, through Ignition Records. The album's lead single, "Where the Light Gets In", was released on 1 February 2016 and features American singer Sky Ferreira. "I Can Change" was released on 14 March 2016 as the second single from the album. "Trippin' on Your Love" was released to US submodern rock radio on 16 March 2016 as the album's third single. The fourth single, "100% or Nothing", was released as a 12-inch single on 19 August 2016. The album is the last to feature band member Martin Duffy prior to his death in December 2022. Critical reception ''Chaosmosis'' received generally positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 65, based on 25 reviews. Primal Scream
Primal Scream are a Scottish rock band originally formed in 1982 in Glasgow by Bobby Gillespie (vocals) and Jim Beattie. The band's current lineup consists of Gillespie, Andrew Innes (guitar), Simone Butler (bass), and Darrin Mooney (drums). Barrie Cadogan has toured and recorded with the band since 2006 as a replacement after the departure of guitarist Robert "Throb" Young. Primal Scream had been performing live from 1982 to 1984, but their career did not take off until Gillespie left his position as drummer of The Jesus and Mary Chain. The band were a key part of the mid-1980s indie pop scene, but eventually moved away from their jangly sound, taking on more psychedelic and garage rock influences, before incorporating a dance music element to their sound with their 1991 album '' Screamadelica'', which broke them into the mainstream. Björn Yttling
Björn Daniel Arne Yttling (born 16 October 1974 in Umeå, Sweden) is a Swedish music producer, songwriter, and musician. His production and songwriting credits include Lykke Li, Chrissie Hynde, Primal Scream, Franz Ferdinand, Sahara Hotnights, Anna Ternheim. Yttling is the bassist of the indie rock trio Peter Bjorn and John. He is also a co-founder of the label and artist collective INGRID and a member of the band LIV. Biography Early life Yttling was raised in Norsjö and started to create and record music at the age of eight. He moved to Västerås to attend a high school with a music programme. Darrin Mooney
Darrin Shane Mooney (born 26 April 1967, Merton, London) is an English session drummer, best known for his work with Primal Scream and Gary Moore. Mooney started playing at the age of 12 at school. Throughout his school years, he played in various school bands and orchestras, playing both drums and percussion. At the age of 18 Darrin went along to a NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) rehearsal in London and was inspired as he watched the others play. He was an official member of electro-rock band Babylon Zoo (1996-1999) In 1997 he joined Primal Scream and worked with Gary Moore from 2001. He has also played with China Black, Matt Bianco, Ragga Twins, Bonnie Tyler, Martin Barre and others. More Light (Primal Scream Album)
''More Light'' is the tenth studio album by Scottish rock band Primal Scream, released on 13 May 2013. The single " It's Alright, It's OK" received airplay on national stations including BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and Absolute Radio and on music channel MTV Rocks, whilst it has also been played on a number of smaller stations including 106.9FM WHCR and Kingstown Radio. It references influential The Gun Club singer Jeffrey Lee Pierce with a take on his song "Goodbye Johnny" and use of the track title "Walking with the Beast". This is their first album since ''Give Out But Don't Give Up'' (1994) to not feature bassist Mani. Critical reception ''More Light'' received highly positive reactions from critics and is perhaps their most critically acclaimed album since '' XTRMNTR''. Sky Tonia Ferreira (born July 8, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, model, and actress. As a teenager, Ferreira began uploading videos on Myspace of herself singing songs she had written, which led to her discovery by producers Bloodshy & Avant and a recording contract with Parlophone in 2009. She released her first extended play, '' As If!'', in 2011, which combined elements of electropop and dance music. Bobby Gillespie
Robert "Bobby" Gillespie (born 22 June 1961) is a Scottish musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as the lead singer, founding member, and primary lyricist of the alternative rock band Primal Scream. He was also the drummer for The Jesus and Mary Chain in the mid-1980s. Danielle Sari Haim (born February 16, 1989) is an American musician. She is the lead guitarist and vocalist of the pop rock band Haim, which also consists of her two sisters, Este Haim and Alana Haim. Danielle also serves as the group's drummer in the studio, while they retain a separate drummer for most of their live performances. Este Haim (born 14 March 1986) is an American musician and composer. She is best known as a member of the pop-rock trio Haim, which Este formed with her younger sisters Alana and Danielle. Este is Haim's bass player and a vocalist. She co-writes all of Haim's songs. Since 2021, Haim has composed scores for film and television. Martin Duffy (musician)
Martin Bernard Duffy (18 May 1967 – 18 December 2022) was an English musician who originally played keyboards with Felt (band), Felt and most famously with Primal Scream. Career Duffy was born in Birmingham and grew up in Rednal in the south of the city, attending St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, Birmingham, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in King's Norton, and growing up listening to punk rock, as well as Two-tone (music genre), two-tone, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
