Chao Phraya Sky Park
Chao Phraya Sky Park ( th, สวนลอยฟ้าเจ้าพระยา) is an elevated, linear park in Bangkok, built on the central viaduct that used to be the structure of the failed Lavalin Skytrain project. The path, which is about in length, was designed by Urban Design and Development Center, Chulalongkorn University, and opened in June 2020. The Sky Park is considered the first sky park in Southeast Asia. History This viaduct was the site of the construction of the Lavalin Skytrain project, which was the first electric train line of Bangkok. The construction route had been studied since 1979 until the construction contract was signed in 1990. After only 2 years, Lavalin Company was facing financial problems so the project had to be abandoned, leaving only the bridge. Linear Park
A linear park is a type of park that is significantly longer than it is wide. These linear parks are strips of public land running along canals, rivers, streams, defensive walls, electrical lines, or highways and shorelines. Examples of linear parks include everything from wildlife corridors to riverways to trails, capturing the broadest sense of the word. Other examples include rail trails ("rails to trails"), which are disused railroad beds converted for recreational use by removing existing structures. Variegation
Variegation is the appearance of differently coloured zones in the leaves and sometimes the stems and fruit of plants. Species with variegated individuals are sometimes found in the understory of tropical rainforests, and this habitat is the source of a number of variegated houseplants. Variegation is caused by mutations that affect chlorophyll production or by viruses, such as mosaic viruses, which have been studied by scientists. Elevated Parks
An elevated railway or elevated train (also known as an el train for short) is a rapid transit railway with the tracks above street level on a viaduct or other elevated structure (usually constructed from steel, cast iron, concrete, or bricks). Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan, known in short as Wat Prayun is a 19th century Buddhist temple complex, located near the Memorial Bridge (Thonburi side) in Bangkok, Thailand. History The temple was built during the reign of King Rama III of the Thai Rattanakosin Kingdom. He was the king of Siam from 1824–1851. Rama III was the elder brother of Mongkut who succeeded him as King Rama IV in 1851. Rama IV became famous beyond Thailand, after being portrayed in ''The King and I'' film and stage productions. Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawongse (Tish Bunnag) dedicated his own coffee estate to build a royal temple. Hence the name "Prayurawongsawat" in his honour.
