picture info	Chanos (fish) The milkfish (''Chanos chanos'') is the sole living species in the family Chanidae. However, there are at least five extinct genera from the Cretaceous. The repeating scientific name (tautonym) is from Greek ( ‘mouth’). The species has many common names. The Hawaiian name for the fish is ''awa'', and in Tahitian it is ''ava''. It is called ''bangús'' in the Philippines, where it is popularly known as the national fish, although the National Commission for Culture and the Arts has stated that this is not the case as it has no basis in Philippine law. In the Nauruan language, it is referred to as . Milkfish is also called ''bandeng'' or ''bolu'' in Indonesia. 	George Chanos George James Chanos (born August 3, 1958) is an American attorney and politician who served as the 31st Nevada Attorney General from 2005 to 2007. Early life and education Chanos was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1981 and a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1985. Career As an undergraduate, Chanos worked as an intern in the U.S. Senate office on Paul Laxalt. After graduating from law school, Chanos worked as an attorney at Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, Myerson & Casey in San Diego. Chanos was appointed by Governor Kenny Guinn on October 26, 2005 to fill out the term of his predecessor, Brian Sandoval, who became a federal district judge. He is president and founder of Kynikos Associates, a New York City registered investment advisor focused on short selling. A noted art collector, he appeared on the BBC Four documentary ''The Banker's Guide to Art''. Early life and education James Steven Chanos was born in 1957 into a Greek immigrant family living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that operated a chain of dry-cleaning shops. He graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School and received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale University in 1980. Personal life Mr. Chanos lives in New York City with his four children. He is currently a lecturer in finance and a Becton Fellow at the Yale School of Management, where he teaches a class on the history of financial fraud.
