Sir Arthur Moseley Channell (13 November 1838 – 4 October 1928) was an English rower and High Court judge. Early life Channell was the son of William Fry Channell of Hyde Park Gardens, who was later Baron Channell, of the Court of Exchequer. He was educated at Harrow School and admitted to Trinity College, Cambridge on 24 October 1856. A noted oarsman, Channell won the Colquhoun sculls in 1860. In 1861, he won the Magdalene Silver Oars. With First Trinity Boat Club he won the Grand Challenge Cup and Ladies' Challenge Plate at Henley Royal Regatta. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War era, and he graduated from American University. Career Channell began his career as a motel manager in West Virginia. Channell became a conservative political fundraiser in 1979. Via the National Endowment for the Preservation of Liberty, Channell attempted to "stall" the sanctions of the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa. Frederick Charles Channell (6 May 1910 – 6 August 1976) was a professional footballer who played for Harwich & Parkeston, Haywards Heath, Peterborough & Fletton United, Northfleet United and Tottenham Hotspur. Football career The full back started his playing career as an outside-left forward at Harwich & Parkeston before joining Haywards Heath Town. In 1930 Channell had his first spell at Tottenham. He is also known by his shorter name, The Wizard. Life and career England The Wizard was born Ian Brackenbury Channell on 4 December 1932 in London, England. Educated at Framlingham College, Suffolk, and from 1945 to 1951 at Bromley Grammar School for Boys, now Ravensbourne School. In 1951 he was called up for national service in the Royal Air Force.
