''Changestwobowie'' is a compilation album by English rock musician David Bowie, issued in November 1981 through RCA Records. It is a companion volume to the 1976 compilation '' Changesonebowie'', and its title and artwork follow the format of that album. In addition to selected post-1976 singles, the album collected five songs from earlier in Bowie's career that had not appeared on ''Changesonebowie'', including "Wild Is the Wind" from ''Station to Station'', which was released as a single to promote the album, along with a newly filmed video for the track. However, the album did not repeat the chart success of the earlier compilation, reaching No. 24*Roberts, David (editor). '' The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums'', p71. Starman (song)
"Starman" is a song by English musician David Bowie. It was released on 28 April 1972 by RCA Records as the lead single of his fifth studio album ''The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars''. Co-produced by Ken Scott, Bowie recorded the song on 4 February 1972 at Trident Studios in London with his backing band known as the Spiders from Mars – comprising guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Trevor Bolder and drummer Mick Woodmansey. The song was a late addition to the album, written as a direct response to RCA's request for a single; it replaced the Chuck Berry cover " Round and Round" on the album. The lyrics describe Ziggy Stardust bringing a message of hope to Earth's youth through the radio, salvation by an alien 'Starman'. The chorus is inspired by " Over the Rainbow", sung by Judy Garland, while other influences include T. Rex and the Supremes. Upon release, "Starman" sold favorably and earned positive reviews. ''Changesonebowie'' is a compilation album by English musician David Bowie, issued through RCA Records in 1976. It collected songs from the 1969–1976 period, including the first LP appearance of " John, I'm Only Dancing". A " sax version" of this song, cut during the '' Aladdin Sane'' sessions in 1973, appeared on the first 1000 copies of the UK pressing (identified by the lack of the RCA logo in the upper-right corner of the cover). Later pressings of ''Changesonebowie'' featured the original version of the single that had been recorded and released in 1972. All US pressings of the LP contain this original version as well. Two of the tracks, " Ziggy Stardust" and "Suffragette City", had never been released as singles when ''Changesonebowie'' was issued, though the former had been the B-side of "The Jean Genie" in November 1972 and the latter would be released as an A-side in July 1976 to help promote the compilation. Following the release of his 1970 album, '' The Man Who Sold the World'', Bowie took time off from recording and touring. "Oh! You Pretty Things" is a song written by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, released on his 1971 album ''Hunky Dory''. It was the first song he wrote for the album. Bowie recorded the song as a demo before giving it to singer Peter Noone, lead singer of Herman's Hermits, who decided to release it as his debut solo single.
